There's no reason why those women tennis players have to do all that goddam grunting and screaming. They're playing tennis, not doing weightlifting competitions!

No they should be able to go to the restroom and grunt as much as they want, it is not my business. However if you sound like a damn train on the court perhaps it should be toned down a bit so each person can concentrate. If the fans have to be quiet then the players don't need to have the sound effects.

Some times it's a bit over the top but it's no big deal why care, that's what they do when they play so leave them alone. Just plain stupid idea.

What the hell? Who would waste their time to do something as stupid as banding GRUNTING?

Kinda reminds me of the background sounds of Sam Cooke's masterpiece, Chain Gang. I think that many of them perform well while grunting, at least that's my take on it.

I think it makes the game fun. I would miss it. This ban came about because the woman's grunts were causing somebody's husband to jizz in his pants or something. WTF?

It's a way to handicap the best players.

"Maria Sharapova is the No. 1 player in the world and a four-time Grand Slam champ. She also is known as one of the WTA's loudest players."

    Oops! Meant to hit NO.

It sounds like an excuse for secong rate players to me... If grunting sounds are distracting them that much then perhaps they should be off doing something that interests them more.

What a stupid concept... Sometimes you have to grunt or yell when you are making a strong shot.

Do they have the same rule for male tennis players?

This isn't a serious question is it?

If the women are being banned, the men should be banned, too. If it's not done this way, have fun with lawsuits.

IT's their tournament, their rules. Who am I to say otherwise? Sorry folks, some things are not democracies.

Its probably not fair, but the grunting has turned into screaming and it is VERY annoying. So annoying it is beginning to take away from my enjoyment of the sport. I avoid the screamers.

I watched tennis for decades without athletes having to make such loud noises. It is a distraction technique and completely unnecessary.

Chris Evert didn't find it necessary to screech. Evert's career winning percentage in singles matches of 90.05% (1309–145) is the best in the history of professional tennis, man or woman.

A little grunting from effort is understandable. Screeching like a Bean-sídhe is ridiculous.
