It was an amazing film and I think it was one of the first movies to make it on my list (you know, that list everyone has for the movies you love, or hate. Rarely does it contain movies you were just okay with.)

It actually was something that i never wanted to see, but i saw it in History class. It made me think that ignorance is a very beatiful thing. no thinking about politics and hate, onlly a smile and a kind heart.

I love the movie, but I don't consider it a Vietnam War movie per se. I would have to go with "We Were Soldiers" as my favorite Vietnam War movie.

the war is reduced to a brief episode, and there's no consideration of the suffering of the vietnamese. my vote goes to apocalypse now.

How did you expect it to show the suffering of the Vietnamese? It was completely from the point of view of one man, and not everyone that went to Nam saw it all.
