It probably sounds like a strange question, but according to The Daily Mail, films like "Twilight" may be providing a sort of "church" experience for teens. The idea comes from a decline in religion among teens, combined with increased interest in supernatural films like "Twilight" and "Harry Potter," suggesting teens are actually seeking answers to the "big questions" -- life and death, good and evil -- in those films.
Nybro Petersen from the Department of Media, Cognition and Communication at the University of Copenhagen explained, "A film series like 'Twilight' offers young people a playground for exploring life's big questions, moral judgment and to imagine the possibility of the supernatural in a pleasurable and informal fashion ... A number of the teenagers I interviewed did, for example, express their fascination with the fact that vampires that are traditionally portrayed as evil often come across as heroic characters in current TV shows." Do you think films are the new "church" for teens?

B: I elected to become Agnostic because I simply do not know whether there is a God or Jesus or Mohammed or whatever. Nobody knows really, I just admit it. I did not become Agnostic because I watched a stupid pale guy sparkle in the sun
Are video games replacing church? No. Silly question. Here's an idea, somehow make religion relate better to today's youth. If cartoons can do it, I have a feeling church can too. I personally always felt very robotic in church. I always wanted to go visit a gospel church though. I bet if there were more of those by me I would go more often; music appeals to the soul. However, I am also not a youth... so.
Just because many children don't actively participate in church life and such to bring forth these questions, this is something that everyone goes through at one point or another, typically when we're students.
Sure, if kids don't have an actual role model and depend on the... *euugh* Twilight for this questioning, that's their parental/guardians fault.
Movies rock.
