Is anyone else really concerned about this speech at the UN today?

mjaeu 2009/09/23 17:04:00
Real Change, Not False Hope.
I am not sure that I am even hearing what I am hearing and reading so far about Obama's speech today. I am really concerned at what a bad place we are in right now, home and abroad. I I just wondered if any SH friends have heard this and see what he has done now. This was a speech he was excited to make!!!! Just start watcing all the spin on this........

The United States surrendered to the world today. We threw in the towel. Obama called it our moral duty to place our economy and foreign policy in the hands of the collective world body.
This speech will be read by future students of history as marking the beginning of WWIII. Neville Chamberlain Obama secured his place in history today and it will be a very black place. It will require the blood and sacrifice of many to correct this course.

Some 52% of the American voters lost their collective mind last year. It does not surprise me that nothing goes on in the heads of the people who are still waiting for the promised CHANGE.

    i agree......

that is why i have turned my attentions from listing my displeasure to the Gov't and turning it towards the American people..... they are truley the ones that i am ticked off at..... they are the ones that can help stop the insanity..... the gov't and other officials just go through the motions... and give generic responses to legitimate concerns...... the people are the "ones" that can change it all.......

As far as I'm concerned he is on his own and does not speak for the America I know and love. Every time Obama opens his mouth our enemies feel stronger and our allies feel more estranged. We cannot let up now. Making our voices heard to our congress and senate is imperative. Voting out all incumbents and replacing them with constitutional leaders will be a giant step. Ratting out the czars and corrupt followers he has surrounded himself with is crucial - right now.
    God help us.

I heard our President throw Isreal under the bus, I heard him surrender the US's place in this world. He has a General that is begging for troops in Afgan, but no response from him. He had the time to go on every morningshow and David letterman in the pm, but no time to address the seriousness if this Generals concerns. This is Carter on steroids. We need to send the UN packing, let them go to Switzerland.

Funny you would pick that out, because here is another section on the same thing - not how it is all about "I", "I", "I" - and then note the carp he lays on them in the last paragraph. Sounds like all of his hollow campaign speeches:
Making his first appearance before the United Nations General Assembly as president, Barack Obama laid out a forceful, well-received case for international cooperation in a globalized world. He laid out "four pillars" that would determine America's relationship to the diplomatic and peacekeeping body going forward: nuclear disarmament, energy security and climate change, democracy promotion and keeping the global peace.

He fought back against the UN's distaste for American unilateralism, cultivated under the tenure of George W. Bush and his UN ambassador John Bolton:

I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism and distrust. Part of this was due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country. Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America has acted unilaterally, without regard for the interests of others. This has fed an almost reflexive anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for our collective inaction.

    Ha...

This has fed an almost reflexive anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for our collective inaction.

Having made amends in part for the disastrous prosecution of the Iraq War, the president then moved the conversation forward, critiquing "those who used to chastise America for acting alone in the world," saying they "cannot now stand by and wait for America to solve the world’s problems alone."

Obama also spoke briefly about his own personal journey as a black American head of state:

As an African-American, I will never forget that I would not be here today without the steady pursuit of a more perfect union in my country. That guides my belief that no matter how dark the day may seem, transformative change can be forged by those who choose the side of justice. And I pledge that America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights – for the student who seeks to learn; the voter who demands to be heard; the innocent who longs to be free; and the oppressed who yearns to be equal.
