Adele is so popular that she didn’t even have to leave her flat in London this year to land in the No. 1 position the U.S. album sales list. That’s because her 2011 release “21,” took the top spot for a second straight year. It’s a rare achievement for an artist, marking the first time that a record has gone back-to-back on the chart since sales were first tracked in 1991.

And it’s a feat that probably didn’t please American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who came in second. The 23-year-old pushed 3.11 million copies of her CD “Red” this year but that pales in comparison to the 4.41 million units of “21” that flew off shelves.
And the British star’s disc has more than just strong sales to back it up. Adele took home six Grammy Awards early last year including the coveted Album of the Year statue. While Swift didn’t manage to rack up nearly as many nominations for “Red,” she could walk home with Record of the Year Grammy for the much-debated, ex-boyfriend themed single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

After all the numbers are tallied and golden gramophones are placed upon shelves, the true test of whether Adele’s is a greater achievement than Taylor’s is simply a matter of taste. What do you think: Is Adele’s ‘21’ album better than Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’?

There is no maturity in her from when she was 16/17 til now.
I listened to that Red Album. I expect her to grow up more in her music especially with this album and she went back to what a an 15yr old would sing about not a 23yr old. So to me all the hype RED got is Overrated. Taylor Swift can be an awesome artist, and she is a great role model but her music all sounds the same. One exception is Back To December. I thought she was heading towards a more grown up vibe, guess I was wrong.
