This is funny, because I'm listening to Del Shannon right now...and even funnier is that I'm about the only person my age that knows who Del Shannon is, lol. I'm addicted to my American Graffiti soundtrack, which has 40 songs that all came out in 1962 or before. Rap music is popular now-a-days and I absolutely loathe rap music! Music was just better back then and you could enjoy it without hearing about some ugly rapper's sexual escapades with some skank. And, they actually had talent too!Some artists I'm addicted to are Chuck Berry, The Drifters, The Platters, The Clovers and so on. I mean, how could you opt to listen to a rap song over Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode"?!?! It's craziness. :)

it's hard because the classic artists paved the way and really set up all the great artists today, but i really love and relate to bands from the last decade or 2 more than anything from the old days.

I grew up listening to 50s and 60s rock 'n roll, 80s rock, country...pretty much everything. My friends feel sorry for me because I had to listen to the old rock lol. :)

That pretty much looks like my CD rack! I've got stuff from the Big Bands up to Vampire Weekend. Rod Stewart, Rise Against, Ricky Nelson, Public Enemy, Slayer, Celtic Woman, Red Army Choir (you gotta hear these commies sing Sweet Home Alabama!! It's a hoot!!), the list goes on...

you can catch me rocking out to Rush, Pink Floyd, Ozzy, ACDC, White Zombie, The Cure, U2..you know some of the greats but at the same time I rock out to Rob Zombie, Tool, Korn, Killswitch. Its all about the music.

I have pretty much sworn off of commercial radio, and TV for that matter. This limits my exposure to newer music, generally speeking.
I must say that I think its sad to 'absolutly loathe' any types of music. Some specific music I could see, and I have a short list of stuff I haven't found much merit in yet, but to avoid an entire genre, that is to let someone else decide what you like. I mean, YOU didn't classify the music on the shelves or choose the radio station to play it on, did you?
