I was playing Mario Kart on the wii against a friends 7 year old yesterday. Before we started playing he said I was useless at the game and always came last.

There was no way I was going to let him win!

I took it as a challenge. We managed 3 races before his lunch was ready. I didn't care about winning the races but I made sure I beat him every time!

How old is deppending how easy I go on them. I look at it like this....if they get the consept of the game and can easily control their player then why should I go easier. Gives them a goal in the game and that's to be better then me.

If they want to compete I will throw everything in my arsenal their way and literally show them how its done. I've been pwnd by some little kids online though. I'd rather be playing co-op with children anyway. Minecraft is a good one.

If I win, I teach them what they did wrong and how to play better. But, usually, I prefer for them to learn by playing, so I stay quiet. But, I do go a little easier on kids, since if I played like I always do, I'd essentially kick their asses. I don't want to do that, since they're just kids.

nice i do that with my little buddy lol some times while playing i will tell him about his flaws and what to do in situations his character gets in that is beyond his skill level ............... but the problem is i always forgets he tinkers with things i teach him and he dose things that make me go wtf dude how did you get around that lol

Kids need to learn to lose. I'll let them win sometimes but it's a good lesson kids need to learn early. I play and when they lose I teach them what they're doing wrong and tell them to correct it. Video games, sports, board games, whatever I'm not influencing a sore loser and or that winning is everything.

Well except my nephew.

He was only 4 years old and we were playing Black Ops, at first I decided I was going to let him win, but while we were playing, I found out he was abnormally amazing for a 4 year old.

So I started playing competitively with him, and in the end, he beat me. Horribly. And then he made fun of me.

It depends on the situation. I can however say I go easy on them.

I did the same thing even with adults when I was Fencing regularly.

In practice if I was much better than my opponent I would handicap myself. I'd decide to only target their forearm or a similar small target.

This made it much better training for me because of the increased difficulty, but also made their training more enjoyable and gave them a chance.
