We don't have any video game systems but DS but in any game I play with my kids, hell no, I don't let them win ! What's that going to teach them ? My 4 year old daughter got mad because I wouldn't let her win at tic tac toe. She said her grandpa always let her win !

I was playing Starcraft online and had my ass handed to me by a twelve year old. And no, I didn't LET him win.

My oldest daughter is pretty good at whoopin' my butt, but I'll sometimes let the youngest one win. Won't have to do that for much longer, though, she's getting pretty good.

I stopped "letting" my son win a loonnnnggg time ago. He just naturally beats me in every game, every time. Video games, board games, yatzee, poker, you name it, he beats me. I've never even won a game of candyland...and there's no skill involved. You flip a card for god's sake.

I usually try to make it a close game. If I am more skilled than the other player, I will still try to win, but I make it close. I then coach the kid and encourage her/him. 9/10 times, the player gets better, to the point where it's actually challenging for both parties.

Depends, in my mind a child needs to learn what it's like to win and lose.

Years ago I pasted my two Nieces playing Risk. As I was I kept hinting that if they teamed up and formed an alliance they'd be more effective. Lol....after a momnet of letting the beating soak in I explained that they are cousins and should always help each other! They looked at each other then me....it was obvious they heard the message!

No. If they're going to play video games then they must learn to accept losing so they can get better at playing. They usually kick my ass anyway.

Not a chance, I have a few younger brothers who can take me down anyway... Some kids (if not most), are either really good at video games or they pick it up pretty fast from losing a few times

There's not always a need for that. some kids are really good at video games. Only if I already won a couple of times in a row, I will let them win.

Hell no that's how they learn. I was kicking my little cousin's ass in MK the other day and he kept asking for me to let him win. He's 6 and I was playing MK since I was 3 so he has to learn himself. He makes it seem that playing a game is harder than it is. He has to get his skills up.

If the child can accept defeat and still have fun, I'd try to win, lol. However, if the child is anything like my young cousins, then I have no choice but to lose... otherwise, I would have a hissy fit on my hands!
