Lmao at the idea 24% voted "close friends" and 21% voted "significant other" over parents. Believe me 100% that the loyalty in those two areas lasts only as long as the shared love and appreciation for one another, and is significantly less in duration than with most parental loyalties where it relates to your well-being. Being that teens may have the largest percentage in response to this question, and their typical view of parents as being "on their side", I have to say that parents most generally are on the side of their children - lifelong - more often than people in "love and friend relationships". Yeh, some parents suck with devotion to their children and give little loyalty to their well-being but my best guess is that percentage is very low compared to the numbers of breakups and hatred towards people in those other two types of relationships - I'm very settled in that view.
