Not exactly the same since I'm a guy and my friend was a girl, but I've had feelings for a friend that didn't feel the same.
It's not easy, hell, sometimes it's just painful, but it's worth doing.
Main thing you need to understand is they don't feel the same as you do, and it takes a lot of self control to keep from crossing the line.
She knows you like her, so if you want to keep being her friend make sure to discuss things with her. Make sure she knows how to tell you to stop if anything you do makes her uncomfortable. And you be damn sure to follow that order if she gives it.
The surest way to end or harm your friendship would be unwelcome sexual advances.
There will probably be an awkward period while you both figure out exactly what you are comfortable with.
I'll add one bit, the idea of waiting until the feelings go away is naive. They may never go away completely. Mine haven't, but I've accepted that fact and moved on. I enjoy having her as a friend, and I wouldn't give that up lightly.
So I wish you luck, it probably won't be easy, but I believe it will be worth the effort in the end.
If you don't want your feelings to mess things up then don't let them, it's called will power. If you think you don't have enough then maybe it's time to discontinue the friendship before it goes sour.
