SodaHead Celebrates Green Week

Question Entertainment

I just blocked a user because of their blind religious observation. Was I right? READ DESCRIPTION?

DER WAHNSINN November 01, 2009 15:46:26

In a previous quesion of mine, "What will you do this Halloween?", a recieved a long rant which started off with how witches sacrifice one of their own to Satan on Halloween. Witchcraft and Satanism, if you research them, have little to no connection. Also, this user quoted the bible to support his theory, but I find that the bible contradicts itself at many points. I responded to this rant and blocked the user.
Still, I feel like sort of a douchebag. This could have been someone very young, and it was low to dis the bible, because I try to respect different religions as much as possible. What do you think?
Yes.
No.

    Yes.

Sometimes, people just need to lighten up. You asked a simple question about partying which ended up being a platform for his religious views. When people get the message of God, some of them need to know when to hang up the phone.

No, you shouldn't block them. You should converse with them and see if you can come to a mutual understanding of each other. It is a miracle, however, you were not blocked first.

If you can't come to a mutual understanding, and the person continues to be a silly idiot, then you can get a few giggles upon reading their asinine replies.

Blocking is left to the discretion of the user. If someone wants to frolic and play in their ignorance, then let 'em. You did what you wanted to. Kudos to you.

Some of my friends are Jesus freaks. The guy I refered to, on the other hand, was stating a bunch of "facts" that were innaccurate. I've actually done some research on the history of Halloween, and this guy was only about 5% right.

Once you responded, why didn't you give him a chance to respond back? Yes, he wasn't exactly intelligent in his answer, but that doesn't mean anything, especially if you'd responded politely, and showed him what he'd gotten wrong.

I agree with Jim, it sounds like you blocked him because you disagreed.

    DER WAHNSINN
It wasn't only due to the fact that I disagreed, it was more because the guy didn't have his facts straight. I didn't want to hear any more from someone like that. However, I agree with the fact that I should have waited for a response from him before blocking. In my response, I wasn't entirely disrespectful, but I imagine he was insulted when I said that thing about the bible.
Thanks for responding sensibly. Jim was being sort of hypocritical in his comment, but yours makes sense. I'll be sure to be more patient with people in the future.

You were right to block them, even if its just for disagreeing, if you strongly disagree, They were ranting on you, using their religion to bash something you enjoy.

I block people too, frequently in fact. If I don't want to be bothered with people being either hateful or idiotic, I have the right to not have to deal with them. If I don't call my dad, who I love very much, because I don't want to be preached at, why should I have to deal with people I don't know or like preaching at me online?

    No.

Based on what you say here it sounds as though you blocked them solely because you disagreed.

I freely block a lot of people, but not for merely disagreeing. I block them for blaspheming the Bible, God, Jesus, or the Christian faith. I also block them for false representation of any of the above if they refuse to correct their error after given an opportunity to do so.

It does not matter the age of the person because if they are old enough to comment they are old enough to check out the facts before they pronounce them as truth.

In your case I cannot say except based on what you have written here it sounds like you just did not want to hear the persons beliefs. I suspect this to be because you are prejudiced against the Bible and falsely believe it to not be the record of truth and fact that it is.

Disagreeing is not grounds for blocking in my opinion. Many other things are.

Dude, a person doesn't have to agree with your beliefs sorry, you say are right for blocking people for agreeing with the bible, but you say Der Wahn Sinn shouldn't block someone for preaching at him.

Not one thing you say makes one lick of sense. Perhaps you should have paid more attention to your lessons in school and then you could perhaps communicate. However, I should not be surprised seeing the name you use which automatically tells me you ain't too bright and couldn't have anything worth listening to anyway.

I was totally SHOCKED to see your age as 35! Are you sure that is not 15?
Since I'm really not interested in your drivel I'll save us both the trouble and block you now.

definitely, I'm sorry if I seem incoherent, I'm just tired and groggy. I hope you got what I was trying to say.

I was trying my best to disagree with that guy without being disrespectful, he had no call to insult me, I didn't really insult him.

I don't have to deal with insults, my son does enough of that, thank you very much. I blocked Jim of course.

I just realized he sat there insulting me, then he blocked me..typical Christian on this site...HYPOCRITE

I hope you blocked the guy
