Former soaps and Disney channel star Leven Rambin got a huge break when she was cast in The Hunger Games, and even though she was only onscreen for a few brief minutes as the vicious and beautiful Glimmer, a rising tide as big as The Hunger Games
really does raise all boats. Rambin's newest role won't just be in
another big, effects-heavy potential blockbuster, but it'll be a lead
this time. According to Variety she's been cast in a major role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, playing Clarisse, the daughter of Ares-- who, if you either know your Greek mythology or saw Clash of the Titans, is the God of War.
The movie is a sequel, of course, to Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,
which wasn't a particularly big hit domestically when it opened in
February 2012, but with international money made a respectable $226
million. Logan Lerman will be returning in the title role, as will
Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson in their supporting parts, but
a number of new adult actors have been brought in for this sequel,
including Nathan Fillion, Missi Pyle, Community's Yvette Nicole Brown and Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Anthony Head.
Though Chris Columbus handled directing duties on the first film, the
job this time goes to Thor Freudenthal, who made the surprise hit Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Columbus is lending his producing strength to this , which makes it
pretty much the best of two worlds-- potential for the new Percy Jackson to feel less like a Harry Potter,
while also having the necessary money behind it. Leven Rambin may
actually experience it as a step up from the comparatively low-budget The Hunger Games.

Oh gosh, they're actually making a sequel to that awful movie...?

+1Yes but I actually anticipate it because they have a new director and they seem to be doing some things right (clarisse will be in it so Annabeth won't be forced to fill in for her, Alexandra dyed her hair blonde for her Annabeth role, ext) No I didn't particularly enjoy the first film because I was a fan of the book (though when I wasn't comparing it to the book it was alright) but the second one may redeem the first.reply - Rowena ... Hm...I may possibly give it a chance then. The first movie was just awful. I couldn't even finish it when I first saw it. xDreply - Yoru Az... Rowena ... 2012/04/25 13:25:21
+1lol I would because who knows it could be a revers Harry potter effect and they get better as they go along rather than worse. I didnt think it was THAT bad but when I started comparing it to the book it did get a bit irritating.reply - Rowena ... Yoru Az... 2012/04/25 22:53:40
