Crystal Harris nearly landed herself a shot at Playboy royalty when she became engaged to Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner in December, but she bailed on that idea in June -- just five days before the wedding. We didn't even think about what happened to Crystal's engagement ring until we found out she was auctioning the rock off.

According to Us Weekly, the $90,000 ring will be auctioned off by Christie's in New York City some time this month. TMZ reports the diamond is 3.39 carats with a circular cut and platinum band, but the auction house only expects the ring to go for $20,000 to $30,000. Which is a bargain, if you don't mind the fact that it was worn by a potential Playboy heiress for 6 months. Hey, it might even be a plus to some.
If you're wondering what Hefner thinks about all this, we couldn't tell you. But back in June, Harris told RadarOnline that she tried to return the ring because it was "the right thing to do," and Hefner told her to keep it. However, he did take his King Charles dog Charlie.
An unnamed source told TMZ that Harris wanted to sell the ring because she "couldn't bear to look at the ring anymore" and "it brought back bad memories." Not a great reflection on Hefner, but if she doesn't want the ring anymore, and he won't take it back, she doesn't have a whole lot of options.

That makes it the lady's prerogative, and that is what I'm saying yes to...her prerogative. I'm neutral but she's free to dispose of the ring how she will. While I don't hold a high opinion of Mr. Hefner, he did take the noble path forward by declining the ring and not making a stink over it.
