According to a recent Gallup poll, the majority of Americans plan to watch a significant amount of Olympic coverage. 59% of respondents said that they’d watch a “great deal” or “fair amount.” 28% plan to watch “not much” of the Olympics, and the remaining 13% plan to watch “none at all.” These percentages are similar to those from the past three Summer Olympics.

Gallup Olympics Poll

More women (63%) than men (53%) will be tuning in to watch a fair amount or a great deal of the summer games. This is a change from previous years when viewership was evenly divided by gender. There were no other significant differences among American subgroups.

Gallup Olympics Poll

When it comes to platforms, the overwhelming majority of Americans plan to watch the Olympics on television. Only 4% said that they’d primarily tune in via the Internet, despite the fact that all events will be live-streamed online (to cable subscribers) for the first time ever.

So, what about you SodaHeads? How much Olympic coverage do you plan to watch?

Wow, thats strange, I thought that most western countries would offer the same type of coverage that we do.
We have every event live (which is about 6pm-6am here) and then replays during the next day, over 8 channels.

from 3am-5pm, most events live. They only show NBC, NBCN, MSNBC, CNBC, and BRAVO. It is ok cause Directv only can records 2 things at once. bravo only shows tennis and cnbc only shows boxing.
