You actually might have seen some of the Oscar nominees this year. Voters for the 85th Academy Awards showered praise on a range of broadly popular studio movies — particularly Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" — while also finding room for the smaller art-house titles "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and "Amour" in a field of nine best picture contenders.

Les Miserables and Lincoln were both fantastic. No Django Unchained for me, thank you very much!

Do not care for many of them. Guess we get to choose from the better of the worst.

None...and won't be seeing any either at the idiotic prices of tickets and the even more asinine prices of the concessions.

Sorry to say I just don't go to movies like I used to. I catch most once they come to TV and often am not disappointed that I waited. I have only been interested enough to actually go see about 6 movies over the past year.

There are many areas across this country that do not have a chance to view movie and TV programing. I live about 100 miles from Houston and get less than 50% of the new movies when they come out. TV is worse. Satellite has made a big improvement, but TV programmers pick and choose their own market. Many excellent programs have been pursed out by lower quality sitcoms and reality programs. Most people I know have never seen and would not care to view most of these so-called reality programs that get great ratings for 4th rate programs.

I never saw Amour at the theater we usually go to ($5 each on tuesdays, and the free-refills for 6 months Hobbit bucket was $30, so it paid for itself in 5 movies).

I have seen just one and that was a family members choice. Personally, if i had to spend money to see any of these movies, i would choose to spend my money on, "Life of Pi"

I wanted to see all of them, but due to school and unbelievably strict parents, I only got to see Life of Pi and Beasts of the Southern Wild. I'm planning on seeing Django Unchained soon (if not today).

    Try not a single one..

I figured Argo is a renter.
Les Mis I just haven't made it to yet, if it warms up enough for me to make it to the movies.. I may see it.
Honestly never heard of Beasts till the award season.
Silver Linings and Amour never got my attention,
Not into torture scenes so Zero Dark is right out.
The only Lincoln pic I saw had Vampires.
Life of Pi looked interesting but then I heard that there are scenes of animals being killed and eaten so maybe not a picture for me to see.
And I've given up on Tarantino films so I just ignored Django.

I may just give the Oscars a pass this year. The only film I saw that I expected to get an Oscar nod got completely dissed.. Cloud Atlas was a great film and nothing.. not a damn thing.... So I think I'll skip it this year.

I'm interested but now I just wait for the DVD. Tickets are so expensive and the audience is rude. I can enjoy it just as much in my home and pick the company I keep. My popcorn is way better. That said Lincoln, Argo and Life of Pi will be on my list.

If you aren't easily thrown by violence, Django was also good... I don't think Oscar-good, but good.
The others you picked were excellent, just excellent.
...& yes, absolutely correct... your (& most anyone's these days) popcorn is far better than that sold (at incredibly ridiculous prices) in cinemas.

Django has my curiousity peaked. I just know how bloody Tarantino can get though. Res. Dogs was brilliant but it had me squirming. I admit I've got a low threshold for blood and gore. I walked out of Saw II and made up my mind I was done with horror movies for good. I definitely would have to see Django at home. I wouldn't want to spoil someone's outing.
