I love that they are that talented, usually at something that you cannot really make any money at in the real world.

Like being really good at triathlons. Nobody is paying you to do them, except in the Olympics.

I mean, gymnastics and figure skating are beautiful to watch, but they just remind me that in this lifetime I'll never go to the Olympics

How great to be an athlete admired by all. What great experiences for those children barely hatched! How good to be one of them. Instant fame! Lots of money! What could be better? I ran five miles a day without fail for years, only to be an attractive looking female. i used to love doing it If I were an Olympic athlete, I would train night and day and be saturated with self love. Olympic medal

To watch world class athletes come together in the spirit of the original Helenic Games and to see many stand on the podium tear up when their flag is raised and their anthem played is truly inspiring.

I choke up just watching them.

To political even now, and during the “Cold War”.

It’s always like; "our dog is better than your dog," or, how much Gold did we win.

Don't get me wrong; I am an American all the way, proud for our athletes, but the Olympics are over done now. Stick a fork in them.

Look at all that cost countries and cities incur just to host the Olympics.

    Many never recover that money.
    Screw the IOC.

None of these to be honest. More interest. However everyone seems to be interested in winning gold. If their country doesn't win the most Gold medals they'll see it as a failure and a forgettable Olympics. When they were created by the Greeks they were about sharing what you had. The games included artists, not only athletes. They were about taking part. When they were brought back by a Frenchmen I believe, they were brought back as a result of his ideals: taking part.

Actually none of the above. I plan to be in the woods backpacking just to get away from the hype and commercialism of it all. The Olympics were a great idea until they got carried away from the ceremony of it all. Now the best international sports competition are elsewhere, such as the FIFA World Cup, IAAF World Championships, etc.

Awestruck by all the incredible athletes, their strength and courage and their immense pride for their own countries. I am proud of our countries athletes too, and am totally awestruck watching all these people compete, side by side, and many do not even speak the same languages, bu they all are alike anyways... just the best of the best. I love it!

Not really. I don't really like the events they have planned for the games so I am going to stay away.
