Good news for those worried about Honey Boo Boo’s future. Her mom, Mama June, is planning for the day when Alana Thompson and her siblings are no longer reality stars. The $15,000-$20,000 per episode that they earn as a family for the reality show is being direct-deposited into a trust fund for the five girls by TLC. It is split evenly between Alana, Lauryn, Jessica, Anna and baby Kaitlyn. The girls won’t get a payout until they turn 21, unless they use the money for education or medical emergencies.

And mom and dad don’t get a penny either. In fact, they don’t even see a paper check that they could be tempted to skim from. June told TMZ, “I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people.’”

She claims her husband’s income as a contractor is plenty to support the whole family and that she will never live above her means. She stated, “You're never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes.” Her frugality has surprised many viewers who assumed the family would blow the dough they earned from the series.

But what about Honey Boo Boo? Without her, there would be no show. Should she be able to buy herself a few of her favorite things? What do you think? Should Honey Boo Boo get some of her money now?

I don't watch TV however Hollywood is Toxic to adults and toxic and deadly to children. I'd spend some on quality private schools & tutors when needed. That's it. Not a cent otherwise. Good for her mother. Lets hope she sticks to it.

The mom gives them $ indirectly in makeup sessions, flights, food, hotel costs, transportation, costumes, jewelery, taxes paid on what they make, etc..The lessons the girls get in the modeling-show biz life style? Priceless. The value of saving, and spending $ wisely to make it last because of the realization that it won't last forever? Priceless.

I think the family should be allowed to use some of the money for counseling and professional child guidance services. Hopefully, these children will somehow be able to grow into sensible, intelligent, productive adults. i don't watch the show because I don't particularly get any kind of enjoyment out of watching people act ignorant and give others ammunition to say ugly things about them. As I said before on another post, if the American people didn't glamorize and make a big deal over all this nonsense and patronize it.......it would go away. And hopefully be replaced with something sensible, intelligent and very pleasant to watch.

One thing I notice is Mama June seems frugal with what little she has. Thinking of their future is smart. How many people get some money and blow it only to be dirt poor again. I say she is one smart Momma.

It is good it is going into a trust fund. If this kid and her siblings make it to adulthood they are going to need one hell of a lot of intensive counseling. That said, this survey really needed a MYOB option. Its really nobody's business until or unless someone has enough reason to bring formal child abuse charges against the parents for what they purport to be doing to this kid (Honey boo boo energy drink indeed! Can we say ADD in a can? )

What does she need with money? I am extremely concerned however that she's going to get royally screwed out of the money in her trust fund. One wonders who is the manager of the trust fund.

OK. So I read the article. Not as bad as I thought. To all appearances not bad at all, but I still don't trust her mom or her dad not to do something sneaky to get hold of that money once all this notoriety has blown over and they are forgotten. The allure of money has been the ruination of many people.

I think she should get some now and the money should go towards a diet plan and child counselling. I have never seen the show, but I saw some Honey Boo Boo youtube videos. She is funny ta boot and loveable. I love her confidence and big personality. I wish her and the Thompson family well.

If that is what mom is doing with the money hooray for her,so many parents of these childhood stars ran thru kids money ,then when kids grew up no money,happened to many.I have not seen show as I just have basic cable ,but I know wish I could see.I wish the family all the best.

The little brat has some growing and maturing to do before she's permitted to
take on fianancial responsiblity of any kind. And 21 is a crock of s**t. That
entire lot needs to wait until they each turn at least 25 and earn, at absolute
minimum, bachelor's degrees before any of them are allowed to touch even
one solitary penny of that money.

A kid would spend it on stuff they want and not important things. So their mother is doing the correct thing by putting it in a trust fund. Now when they get the money, who is to say they will be smart about how they spend it? Only time will tell!

The whole idea of this show is ridiculous and very harmful to society! I have not seen the show, but I have seen this child talk. It is so sad that she is getting exploited. This baby is being destroyed. Money is the root of all evil, why on earth would anyone do this to an innocent child. I guess we have not learned from past experiences... obviously. Most "child stars" end up struggling with drugs, alcohol and life itself in their adulthood.....Honey Boo Boo's parents are very sick people and so are all the rest of the people who watch this show. Shame on you......
