I saw it in theaters. I'm not sure what I thought was the best part: watching Eddie Murphy's character improve his tastes (and ditch his disrespectful friends), watching Dan Aykroyd see what happens when his technical analysis won't help him anymore (and Eddie Murphy applying his street smarts to commodities trading and achieving results at least as good), or watching the two of them team up to take down Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche.

Love that movie... Know the entire dialogue, word for word and use snippets from it all the time. "it ain't cool being no jive turkey so close to thanksgiving" "$5? Now I can go to the movies... By myself" "nice purse, is that your purse?" "what about Mumsy's party? I'll just have to get Todd to take me." "at home if we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub" "no getting around the ol'minimum wage, Mortimer" "that's my car!!". Fun movie :)

Yes, it's a pretty funny film although part of me wonders if this movie would receive as strong a reception if it came out now as it did back in 83. Parts of the movie aren't exactly PC, but I think it's funny when they finally get revenge on Clarence Beeks and put in the ape suit in with the live gorilla haha.

Both Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd were hilarious and believable. Back when Eddie Murphy was actually funny. Now he's not so much anymore.

Yes, and the movie which very few people know was the sequel: Coming to America! Look closely at the scene in Coming to America where Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) hands an envelope to the two bums laying at the fire: Randolph and Mortimer from Trading Places! "Randolph, RANDOLPH!" "I'm still not talking to you, Mortimer!" "Randolph, LOOK!" Randolph looked at the wad of bills "Mortimer, WE'RE BACK!"

I wouldn't exactly call Coming to America a sequel to Trading Places, but I loved the cameo, and that part was hilarious.

It was a while ago, but I enjoyed it then. It wasn't long after it came out when I saw it and haven't seen it since. I think I'll watch it the next time it's on when I'm home.
