One of my all time favorites. I've always been amazed of Robert Clary , that he could do something like this being a real nazy concentration survivor, God bless him. I did meet Bob Crane, about 3 months before he was mirdered , about 5 years before I got into the stunt bis.
Another great old show. One of the really cool things about it is most all of the actors playing Nazi's were Jews, and they loved making fun of the Nazi's.
I had a gf in high school who's father was a former long time POW in WWII in Germany taken in North Africa early in the war. As imagined he would get red faced pissed off whenever it was on pointing out all the inaccuracies but he also begrudgingly admit there were some similarities as well. Glad to see it back on ME-TV.
Yea some of the total 24/7 news thing can be overwhelming anymore sometimes Green Acres or Rockford Files are a nice diversion. I watched the old Jack Webb produced show Emergency the other day talk about medical emergency services in the stone age I'm sure it was "cutting edge" in 1973 but geez today not so much but entertaining one the less.
Emergency is a great old show, I watch it every Tuesday night along with Adam 12 and Dragnet (Netflix is great!). And yes, it was state of the art in the early 70's, rescue squads were a new idea and Emergency helped popularize them... it probably wound up saving a lot of lives.
Most of Jack Webbs stuff especially the real old b/w Dragnet stuff is entertaining later when he got Harry Morgan as a sidekick in the late 60's it got a little shall we say rigid in nature. I look at Emergency like I do even some of the stuff that came out in the 80's when they would pull those giant "brick" phones out and call them portable mobile phones as kind seeing how far technology has come in a relatively short time. .
Most people don't know how influential Webb was. He tried to make those shows, especially Dragnet (starting with the radio show in 1949), as accurate as possible. He wanted his audience to get an idea what life was really like for police officers. And it even goes beyond that, we take calling anywhere for granted, but there is an episode where Friday makes a long distance phone call and we hear it every step of the way.
