I just finnished reading it and I cried through the whole book. It hurts me to know that some kids have to go through what he did. Have you ever read it?

I read it and cried. But, I'm sorry, I don't think God saved him, nor anyone else from abuse.

I'm seriously not trying to start anything! I just don't. My problem with the book.

it is a damnable shame that people can take a new life and twist it through pain and their own personal desires into an open wounded creature that will never be the same for it. one of the best books I ever read was called the Fifty minute hour. though only a couple of the subjects were abused as children, it does show the lasting effects of torture. another great read is called For the Love of Donna, it's the true story of two young boys and their 13 year ordeal at the hands of a sexual sadist and the attempts to murder them to hide the truth

Yes, I read it, and the two others he authored. He helped me to heal from my own childhood.

My best friend read Pelzer's books, I lived through it, I can't bring myself to read it from another child, it is too painful. He, however, did go through a little more than I did, but still....maybe one day I will force myself to read it. The things that people do to children just make me sick to my stomach on a constant basis. So very sad.

Hope, I can empathize. His abuse was a bit more than mine as well, but mine was not a normal childhood either. His books helped, they were cathartic as they gave me a voice, saying those things I couldn't even dare to think then.

I cried as well, but it gave me a better understanding of my step-son, what he's been through and where he's at. I recommend everyone read it.

I just started reading it now but I have a question I seen that there are alor of diff covers on all of them are they all diff. I saw it with the cover thats on the one that says no but I got it from the library and it has a white cover with a boys face in black and white. Says by the author of The Lost Boy. Is this the first book A Child Called it or another one an then is it The Lost Boy and then A Man Named Dave? I only ask cause reading here I read other names

Its a hard read for me because I am a parent and no child what so ever deserves to go through the things this poor little boy was going through. No child is bad, they may misbehave but every child does thats how they learn thats what every child does they are children but as I said nobody deserves abuse.

It was hard for me because my step-son has been repeatedly abused by his mother over the years, much worse when he was little, and the book gave me a look into his mind, his feelings, about the whole thing. And no matter what we did, calling police, Child Protective Services, filing court papers, taking pictures of the damage, the courts would still allow her to have him and abuse him simply because she's the BIO mom. It's much better now, he's almost 13, and he doesn't allow her to get away with anything. He's more the adult there than she is (which is still sad) but he has no problem calling the police if she even yells at the kids.

Poor thing. That is good that he stands up for himself. I know this makes us in the mind and spot of a child thats being abused. Its hard when a child is being abused and theres proof but no one changes it. He must be happy that hes got you and dad. Now in the book how is it that the dad just didn't do anything and just let it happen

All 3 of the books have different covers. However it may be that there are different covers for say"A Boy Called It" or the others because they could have been published at different times or even by different publishers.

Yes there are three seperate books, each about a different time in his childhood. I cannot remember if a boy called it or lost boy is the first one. They are both very upsetting but should be required reading for everyone. You can see that Dave turned out so differently than a lot of children that were abused. He was able to pull his life together, many cannot and turn to a life of hate, crime and abuse themselves.
