Have you ever judged music by it's artist name or cover?

Not just album cover (which, awesome album cover does help) but band name too.
For example, an amazing band called Diarrhea Planet. I discovered them (before they were famous of course) and found some amazing music. When I tried to share them with my friends, they weren't willing to listen to it because they "already knew what was coming" or "thought it would sound terrible" but were then pleasantly when they found themselves humming along to "Ghost With A Boner". Granted, I'm willing to give any band a chance (and then hate them) so I don't really do this, but have any of you guys had pre-dispositions due to a band name or album cover?

Artist/group/band Name? Unless I'm already familiar with the artist/group/band than if I don't/didn't like their already released material than I'm less likely to give them the time of day for the next set of material released. Genre? If I don't like the genre of an artist/group/band than they have to be really good and be better than the average artist/group/band. Album title or song title don't matter to me because the content of the songs and the songs on the album are what matters. Album covers are unimportant, sometimes the designs are cool, however they can clue you in to a lot of the ''vibes'' of the artist.

When they had a track record... Moody Blues, Beatles, Lovin' Spoonful, Captain and Tennille, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Chet Atkins, Streisand, Gino Vanneli, Chicago, ZZTop, Louis Armstrong, Sergio Mendes, Sasha Rosenbaum, Percy Faith, and a host of others. The only group that disappointed me was Deep Purple, the one flash wonder..

It's typically easy to get a taste of what you're about to listen to when you hear the name of a band and get a look at the band members.
That's not to say I don't still give them a chance, but I generally need to be impressed just with any other band.

Some covers and names do give you certain expectations, but I reserve judgement for when I hear the music.

Especially if the artist is familiar to me. I expect a specific sound or something. If its a new band or artist to me, the name of their album, songs and or their name itself is usually what makes me listen to them...

I don't negatively judge an album by its name or cover. But I might positively judge it. If I find a band with a great name it'll spark my curiosity and I'll be more likely to listen to them.
For example, Diarrhoea Planet. I've never heard of them before this post, but I'm Youtube searching them as I type.
I find a lot of punk bands have great names like that. Gang Green, Pansy Division, Propaghandi, Dayglo Abortions (a personal favourite).
