I think it may have. The list of country artists from Texas is long. However, Tennessee started it all with the Grand Ole Opry, and if it wasn't for the Opry, there would not be any country music.

It is a bigger state! (Actually I think there is more country fever in Texas but Tennesee has given us more music and more diversity especially in jazz, blues and rock n roll.)

Texas 'biggest contribution is Bob Wills, and his Texas Swing-which is more like Jazz than Country. However Texans AND Tennesseeans have better things to do than try to keep score on this subject.
Be aware though, that the overwhelming majority of those that formed the prototype of what is known as Country Music got their start in Tennessee-moreover in Knoxville rather than Nashville....

Texas has had some amazing contributions, but Georgia and North and South Carolina have a large group of Country Entertainers in todays market.

Sure does. But, to be fair to Tennessee, you need to consider how huge Texas is. Roughly SIX times bigger. And I'm sure that, if you divided Texas up into six parts, no one part would yield nearly the density of Country Music that Tennessee does by its lonesome.

    That's very true.
