She loves him because he's beautiful and he loves her because she smells good to him. If you could, please find me an example in any of the books where Bella thinks of Edward and how much she loves him without thinking of how 'chiseled' or 'adonis-like' or 'dazzling' he is. Fyi, there are over 100 references in just the first book alone of how amazingly hawt he is, but there's never a personality given to him. They are obsessed with each other, quite unhealthily, I might add. If you think that is love, than I do apologize, but I completely disagree. And while we're on the subject of unconditional love, a good example of what real love looks like is Lily Potter dying to protect her son.
As for fantasy, both books are fantasy. There is nothing more realistic about vampires and werewolves than there is about wizards.
As far as being something I can relate to, of course people relate themselves to Bella or Edward. They were written with no personalities, something she admitted herself. (and might I add, what kind of self-respecting writer does that?!)
Harry Potter is very easy to relate to. That's why it draws fans of all ages, men and women alike, in countless countries all over the world. Twilight draws in teens. And mostly girls. Furthermore, HP actually deals with real issues such as racism, death, and bullies. What does Twilight deal with? How to obsess over your hawt boyfriend? Yeah, incredibly realistic."
