It seems only fair that Guns 'N Roses should go down in rock 'n' roll history. But disco queen Donna Summer?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2012 have been announced, and Summer is on the list -- even though her infamous wedding song "Last Dance" doesn't exactly qualify as rock in our jukebox.
The other nominees include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart, The Cure, Guns 'N Roses, The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Spinners, Laura Nyro, Donovan, War, Eric B. & Rakim, Freddie King, Rufus with Chaka Khan and The Small Faces/The Faces.
The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer, Laura Nyro, Donovan and War have all been nominated in the past. Wondering why your current faves aren't on the list? An act must have released its first single or album 25 years ago to qualify for induction. (It's hard to believe Guns 'N Roses has been around for 25 years!)
More than 500 voters will determine who makes the cut for the induction ceremony next year, but who gets your vote? Click through our slideshow and let us know: From crazy Axl to weepy '80s balladeer Robert Smith, who should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Yes. There are those that come close ie Heart, but still that's processed blather that urges one to sit and listen instead of getting up and dancing. That's what Rock and Roll is about.
Freddid King was a Blues artist and as such comes close to R&R.; Still not it though.
That aside, the RRHOF is a worthless sham. They're ready to induct the Beastie Boys while Jethro Tull and Deep Purple have never even been nominated? Preposterous!!!!!!
Other than that. Yes. Donna deserves to be in some kind of Hall of Fame, if she isnt already.
it was joan and the runaways that made it possible for women to consider a career in rock n roll.
it wasnt easy for them at that time with the amount of slack and rejection because people believed girls cant and should not perform RnR but they stuck it through and joans still doing AMAZINGLY great. she truly is the queen of rocn n roll and i think she deserves to go down in history for it.
she also does work to support PETA
shes been true to her work for more than 30 years (started when she was 15..shes 52 now)
i cant see how anyone deserves to win more than her.
to all the women and girls voting...she stood for us..now its OUR TURN.
geez now im more disappointed bon jovi hasnt been voted in, they have a career for over 20 years and last year had the best tour and they arent in but jonas brothers are?
