Do you think that Guns 'N Roses is still awesome -- or are they starting to become a little outdated?

Awesome because I like(d) the band.

I would never see them in concert again. I saw them a few months ago and Axl sounded about as enthusiastic as a 4 year old going to the dentist. He had no feeling whatsoever for the music he played, and he even sang it badly. The on-stage dialogue etc. was awful, his interaction with the crowd was boring.

Axl has dug himself a might deep hole.

It's the Guns 'N Roses Tribute Band feat. Axl Rose.
  • Adam 2012/02/01 03:27:42
Sorry, but I think they have been outdated from the beginning.

    It's not GnR without Slash

I still love me some Guns N' Roses, wish they had the original group, they all kinda suck when they're apart.

How many shows before Axl goes insane and cancels the tour?

It's not that's it's outdated. It's that it's just Axl friends. No Slash. No Duff. No Izzy. No Adler. Bands are just hard to take seriously when there's only one of the "original members" (which translates to the members that were in the band when they broke through). I love DJ Ashba though and would personally love to see him live but in Sixx AM rather than GNR.

Besides, when tickets go over $25, no band or group is worth the hassle to go see them.

This wouldnt be GnR, it would be Axl's farce.
  • dePSyChO 2012/02/01 00:19:29
Not only would this be outdated, but GnR sucks anyway. They have maybe 3 good songs in total.

As someone on a different website once said: "[GnR's] entire discography is just one masturbatory guitar solo after the next, and none of them are very good."

Guns 'N Roses are anything but outdated, their music is timeless, HOWEVER, Slash is what brings the band to life and without him, it's just a mediocre band.
  • dePSyChO Merna 2012/02/01 00:21:05
    Their music isn't timeless.

Artists like Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, John Coltrane, Louie Prima, etc. Those are timeless. GnR is just generic 80's hair metal.
  • Merna dePSyChO 2012/02/01 00:42:33
Well they've been around for 30 years and are still popular so I think they'll be alright.
  • dePSyChO Merna 2012/02/01 02:17:21
Being around long doesn't make them timeless. Not only that, but they haven't put out a new album in a while. Chinese Democracy was extremely poorly received.

    Again, not timeless.

Plus, they haven't been together - the band pretty much broke up.
  • Batman dePSyChO 2012/02/11 02:11:29
you're going to freak when you find out 300 years from now people are still playing their songs huh.
  • dePSyChO Batman 2012/02/11 16:47:25
    'Cept that's not gonna happen.
  • Batman dePSyChO 2012/02/12 05:16:48
the 20th century is well preserved in digital media...this era will be relived over and over again as if it were yesterday for the next 2000 years.

oh I think there's a good reason why they were so popular years ago...their music resonates quite well with angst and youth.

well, angsty kids will be around for centuries to come, just like they've been around for centuries before.

I'll stop here before I start singing the Circle of Life.
  • dePSyChO Batman 2012/02/14 03:51:50
Sure, but that doesn't mean they have good taste.
  • Batman dePSyChO 2012/02/14 04:51:30
beauty's in the eye of the beholder. If welcome to the jungle sells more than Eine kleine Nachtmusik, then you've been out voted on what's good taste.
  • dePSyChO Batman 2012/02/14 22:04:53
Nope. It's stupid to assume that a majority means something is good at all or better than something else.
  • Batman dePSyChO 2012/02/14 23:05:22
Art imitates life. If GNR is identified with its intended customers better than Mozart, it is by definition, the better taste and superior music. I understand you struggle with this, so we'll just leave it at that.

I can tell you must have the last word for some reason. so go ahead. But having out debated you, I'm finished here.

    driving off
  • dePSyChO Batman 2012/02/15 11:35:34
I don't agree with what you just said at all, especially GnR being better than Mozart (that's just stupid), I'll stop arguing as well.
  • rustyshackelford 2012/01/31 23:45:37

I'd like to go see them.
My parents were big fans and I grew up listening to them, so seeing them would be pretty cool
  • Tova1004 2012/01/31 23:32:03
I loved the "hair bands"! I miss those days that I could hardly get all of my hair into the car:) LOL!
  • volley15 Tova1004 2012/02/01 00:53:29
Makes me sad that I missed that decade. I would have had way too much fun being a teen and early 20-something in the 80's.
