I too would say Minnie Riperton. I will have to confess that I knew the other two but not her. I googled her though and definitely know this song and her voice. What a talent and what a loss.

I am wondering why your names are so similar and yet not the same, if this is your aunt.

it not the same becuz my grandpa was going to war but couldnt have the name ripton so they changed it but my side of the family wanted to keep it ripton

i don't know why its a big prob in my family so my dad didn't tell me
i did inherit the singing talent
and this is her daughter she was on SNL i am guessing that's her in the picture she suppose to be my cousin never met her but hopefully she sees this and tries to contact me

That is really neat , Mrs. E . What an interesting story. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your aunt certainly had a beautiful, as well as memorable voice. To think she influenced so many singers with her " high notes" must make you proud. I hope you will someday be able to reunite with that side of your family.
