He's one of Hollywood's hottest hunks, and you've probably seen him in "The Bounty Hunter" (with Jennifer Aniston) and other films. But Gerard Butler has been quietly receiving treatment for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center, TMZ reports.

Sources tell TMZ that Butler, 42, started having pain management issues while shooting "300" in 2006, and things got worse in December when he was injured in a surfing accident. According to the report, Butler "realized he was relying too much on prescription drugs" and entered rehab three weeks ago. The star also reportedly developed issues with cocaine ... but he's scheduled to leave rehab today, according to TMZ.

It seems like celebrities are in and out of rehab all time time (we're talking to you, Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan), but Demi Moore also took us by surprise last month when she sought "professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health." Demi Lovato's rehab announcement came out of no where. She is one of the few Hollywood stars to complete rehab AND move on healthier and wiser than before. She is a role model for that. I have serious respect for her.
