According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lucas plans to put the money into a foundation that focuses on educational issues, a cause close to his heart. A spokesperson said that “George Lucas has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavors.”

One person missing from the list, tho: Paul Newman.
While he was alive he donated all profit, after taxes, from Newman's Own brands to charity...to date, since 1982, over $330 million.
Considering Newman wasn't in the league, money-wise, of half the people listed above, that's not too shabby, from seed money of only $40,000.
He won't fund 'education', he will fund political projects to push government forcing us to spend on government schools which like Obama have been an abysmal failure.
* My only problem is when I find out Gates, Buffet or Lucas are donating huge sums to what are basically left-wing causes. I don't really consider that 'charity' so much as politlcal power.
But if you're talking cancer, sick kids, African relief funds etc then awesome. Darth Lucas is redeeming himself after all?

i would say they are generous if they both give the amounts the give AND pay 100% of the taxes they have to pay.........

Most of the Gates/Buffett money goes offshore, I expect the Lucas money will as well.
