    I'm watching it now, it's kinda quirky. I don't know why people call it insulting to Christians, it's insulting to modern day hypocritical Pharisees who pretend to be Christians and that lot is particularly insulting to Christianity.

    I'll watch the first episode but probably not after that. Last year there was a post asking about this show. Here is my response:


    Good (Fill in the blank) Bitches, would be offensive no matter what the modifier. Using "Christian" though is about the only choice the producers have if they want to stay attached to their heads. How about "Good Muslim Bitches"-Whoops! Not worth the fatwa. "Good Black Bitches"- Nope don't wanna go there. "Good Jewish Bitches" Nah, not insulting enough people. Yadda, yadda, yadda. You get the pointe to that post.

    Yeah...but this is an American show set in Texas about obscene wealth and social backstabbing.

    It's a play on the idea of the good Christian woman in the U.S. - and the behavior in it is relevant and recognizable. It's not because they "wouldn't" make them Muslim - it's because they wouldn't really be making something relevant to many people.

    Originally the show was to be called "Good Christian Bitches" after the book by the same title. The uproar over that was such that ABC changed Bitches to Belles. The blowback will probably be such that the show will be canceled before its first season ends.

    Damn. Now that I know that, Good Christian Bitches sounds so much better. Besides, it's not like everyone would know what the B stood for unless they read the book. ABC is calling it GCB. It could stand for myriad things, really.

    I'll watch the first episode and then decide if I'll continue. I liked PanAm at first, but found it boring after the first 4 or 5 episodes, so stopped watching it. But still with "Once Upon A Time."
