Eating and drinking have always played a big part of the world of HBO's epic fantasy drama "Game of Thrones," with many important scenes involving a jug of wine or a tankard of beer. Now you can get in on the action, because the show now has its own official beer.

As reported by the New York Times, the makers of "Game of Thrones" are collaborating with Brewery Ommegang, a company based in Cooperstown, New York, to produce a series of ales to tie in with the show.

The first in the series will be called "Iron Throne Blonde Ale" and will be available on tap or by the bottle in March 2013, with a second to follow in the fall and two more planned for release later on. The third season of the show will premiere on March 31, 2013. "Game of Thrones" isn't the first HBO show to get its own drink. There was an official energy drink for vampire drama "True Blood" back in 1999. Are you a fan of the show?

I've never watched it, but I have no desire to. Mythical stuff like that rarely catches my interest.

But it is dragging on. I would like to know what happens to the kings the dragons and why on earth did they kill Sean bean before he had even done anything? He was supposed to be a great solider and he never even had a fight.

Dragging out? The series hasn't even started. The series has only covered the first 2 books, season 3 will be approx the first half of the 2nd book. There's still 4 more books to cover, and two haven't even been written.

That sounds like dragging on to me. How many years is that going to take? I would like to have watched it all in less than six months. God forbid if a doctor told me I had 3 months to live what I would do.

Tried reading the first novel in the series, but got bored with the tedious detail after about 75 pages.

Quality production and good acting. Some American producers could learn, goo drama is far better than "reality drama".

I never know when it's going to be on, however, so I haven't seen much of it. Always good to have your own beer! Is it the small beer first introduced into Medieval culture or alcoholic beer?

It can be a bit rough to watch, as everything beautiful crumbles around and threatens to possible even explode all over, but on top of that winter is coming.... Despite the depressive situations depicted, I cannot help but feel anxious to continue watching the next season when it's released.

But a blonde ale is a rather late comer of a brew for a "swords and sandals" show. Early brews were in developed places dark, strong, and smokey in less developed places almost a half-fermented thin gruel. The former still finds some enthusiastic drinkers. The latter, outside of Africa, finds very few willing drinkers.

I thought the question was "does the beer sound good," not "do you watch the show?" To the prior, my answer is yes. I'm always down to try new beers, regardless of where they draw their origin. However, this seems a bit gimmicky to me.

Actually, I want to be a fan of GAME OF THRONES since it's about medieval times, fantasy...that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch it since the beginning. I hope to catch up on it through iTunes.
