So, in a way, their anti hero programs and bad boy attitude has just proven DTV's claims about DISH are factual because many of DISH Networks customers are angry that they can't get these programs anymore and saving ten bucks for the greatly reduced programming DISH offers isn't cutting it with customers.
I actually started watching shows like Breaking Bad just because of the new promotions AMC has been making of shows I never really gave a chance but the anti hero promo's and attacks on DISH got my attention... I can see why Breaking Bad is so well liked by people.
The reason anti heroes appeal to people is that it takes the premise of fighting evil with evil and flips it on it's head.

The reason anti heroes appeal to people is that it takes the premise of fighting evil with evil and flips it on it's head.
It's not always wrong to hate, to be enraged or even to take the law into your own hands when those entrusted to act as guardians of justice fail us or become bought off or evil in their own right.
The Punisher at Marvel Comics is a prime example as he began as a man driven insane by the deaths of his family in the 1970's. But the character evolved in the 80's where he wasn't insane anymore, but driven by the failure of the system. He not only targets criminals and crimelords, he doesn't think twice about shooting a wife beater in the arm or going after a corrupt policeman or a bought off political leader who has a system in place to deceive and con American voters out of a vote while actually in the employ of evil people who prey upon humanity.
Characters like the Punisher reveal what we don't want to see, hear or know to be true... even when we do know and just go along like sheep.
Take Al Capone. Al Capone was loved by many because while he made his fortune selling illegal hooch and becoming a maffia crimelord, he claimed to represent the poor and gave back directly to the community helping the poor. He possessed a criminal network where he owned the Chicago police, local and state political leaders, he controlled the media and even had control elements in Washington DC. It was only when brave men put their lives on the line and were killed that people saw good cops, good politicians, good reporters all shot down by Al Capone that they finally turned on him understanding that Capone was actually behind all the corruption that was putting so many worthless leaders in positions of power he could control that instead of helping the people... he was actually now responsible for everything that went wrong in the city and in their lives.
The Untouchables brought Capone down and they are the ultimate anti heroes in that they actually existed... and yet, other than taking down Capone, it became revealed that the FBI and the G-Men were all as bad as Capone himself had been.
We will be electing a President soon and while we won't admit it, the truth is that neither candidate is worth voting for. We know this but are so caught up in us vs them that we're actually supporting candidates whose voting records paint them as representing the other side more than the side that will be voting for them. We all know we're making a mistake with these people and that creates a sense within us where we wish someone would kill these candidates to save us from ourselves.
If Obama wins re election and is assassinated, there will be millions of voters who voted for him who will shed no tears and actually look forward to a Biden Presidency because Biden is far more likely to give the left what they want than Obama has been. Likewise, should Romney win and be assassinated, there are millions of Republicans who will be looking at who he chooses as VP right now to determine if they will even vote for him as they're going to want a VP candidate who is truly a politician who shares their beliefs and is everything they want in a President... so if Romney is killed, they won't shed a tear either.
That's bad to say but past Presidents who were assassinated reveal it to be true and also reveal that the VP position isn't just a meaningless position... choose poorly in a VP and should the President be killed, we find ourselves in a worse position, choose well and the new President can prove a godsend.
This is why we are fascinated with assassins like Lee Harvey Oswald as it's not just that he killed a President and was himself killed, it's the dark side of Camelot which reveals Kennedy had a lot of Americans who did not support him and even many who hated him who had voted for him. He was a Neocon who had turned people like Eleanor Roosevelt and the political left against him by being anti civil rights and representing the wealthy elite of his day... this is why we may talk about his private life before he became President, but we don't talk about his political career before that time because it totally destroys the myth we made of Kennedy revealing he was the opposite of what we think when we think of him.
Thus, the man who killed Kennedy became an anti hero for some because he killed a man they hated but nevertheless may have voted for so their political party could claim they won the Presidency.
