Ever think you'd hear President Obama and Lindsay Lohan mentioned in the same sentence? Neither did we. But Lohan attended the 98th Annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday night -- as the guest of FOX News' Greta Van Susteren -- and managed to show up Kate Upton and Kim Kardashian!
The no-longer-on-probation actress looked stunning in a plunging black halter gown, with her hair dyed back to her signature red hue. So is the event just an excuse for the president and first lady to mingle with celebrities? Well ... not really. Proceeds from the dinner go toward scholarships for aspiring journalists and awards recognizing excellence in the profession. It is traditionally attended by the president and first lady as well as many other senior government officials and members of the press corps.
They may have looked glamorous, but Lohan and Kardashian also had to handle being the butt of several jokes. Referring to "Miracle on the Hudson" pilot Sully Sullenberger, who was in the audience, host Jimmy Kimmel joked, "Sully, will you drive Lindsay Lohan home? Just make sure you don’t run into a goose, and make sure it isn’t a Grey Goose."
He also took aim at reality queen Kim Kardashian. "If you’re looking for the greatest threat to America right now, she’s right there," he said, pointing into the audience. "She’s Kim Kardashian." The president himself also made a Kardashian joke, in a pre-taped opening bit. "Seriously, guys, what am I doing here?" he said. "I'm the President of the United States, and I’m opening for Jimmy Kimmel?...Why am I telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian? What is she famous for, anyway?"

Since Jesus represents the lawgiver for Christians (remember that, according to Christian beliefs, Jesus replaced the laws of the Old Testament, with the New Covenant). Moses represents a Jewish figure and the Ten Commandments represent Hebraic laws, not Christian laws.

This magnificent Fresco was done by Constantino Brumadi when the Capitol was being expanded. This is when the new cast Iron dome and the Statue of Freedom would be put atop the Dome.
Washington is seen here rising to heaven to become glorified (that is what apotheosis means) with the goddesses Liberty and Fame. Although the architect of the capitol says it is Victory/Fame I have never seen the goddess Victory with a trumpet. It is always the goddess 'Pheme' with her trumpet as the goddess we know as Fame. I am guessing Brumadi was painting Fame. Washington is surrounded by thirteen maidens representing the original states. Again we see a powerful expression of the female deities found in pagan religions. Christianity is patriarchal to the extreme. We see more classical and pagan imagery; nothing Judeo-Christian is used to represent Washington's apotheosis. We are the New Rome; the New Athens; not the New Jerusalem as the religous right claims. We are symbolized by what the Christians sought to wipe off the face of the Earth. Ironic.

MECHANICS is the firey god Vulcan, working at the anvil, making a cannon and a steam engine. AGRICULTURE is our beautiful friend the goddess Ceres, who also represents Peace throughout Washington. With her is America in a red Liberty Cap, the Roman Pileus which freed slaves wore to mark them as free. Flora is picking flowers.

Minerva, the Roman goddess of crafts and wisdom, is portrayed with helmet and spear pointing to an electrical generator creating power stored in batteries next to a printing press, representing great American inventions. American scientists and inventors Benjamin Franklin, Samuel F. B. Morse, and Robert Fulton watch. In the left part of the scene a teacher demonstrates the use of dividers.
Created in 1840 by Horatio Greenough, Washington appears as Zeus, complete with pose, classical robes and a battle sword, the falchion. On the pedestal are two reliefs of Zeus's favorite sons. On the right side is the baby Hercules, in his crib wih his twin, killing the snake that Zeus' wife Hera put in his crib. Most of Zeus' children were not Hera's (Roman Juno) On the left side of the statue's pedestal is Apollo, god of light and literature, guiding his chariots across the sky in the manner that the Sun god Helios does.
