In the wake of his arrest on suspicion of committing a lewd act in public (cops say he was caught with his pants down in an adult theater), PBS has dumped actor Fred Willard as the narrator of its new show.

Jeanne Hopkins, a spokeswoman for WGBH, the Boston public broadcaster that produces the show, told The New York Times, "Given the unfortunate news reported today, effective immediately, Fred Willard no longer will be involved with the ‘Market Warriors’ series."
Meanwhile, Willard's attorney, Paul Takakjian, said the actor "did nothing in any violation of any law" when he was allegedly caught with his pants down in an adult movie theater, TMZ reports. With his wife by his side, Willard himself told TMZ the arrest was a "big misunderstanding" and "it didn't happen."
The actor, who has been identified as 72 years old and 78 years old in various reports, is best known for his roles on "Modern Family," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and movies like "Best in Show" and "Anchorman." His upcoming movie also happens to have the unfortunate title of "The Yank."

+16I truly wonder why the police bother with "lewd acts" in adult movie theaters. Why do people go to those theaters anyway? To become, er, aroused, right? Isn't that more or less the purpose? If you are an employee of such a place and you don't like it, find another job. If you are another patron, surely you understand. After all, why are YOU there? But for God's sake, don't call the police! They've got more important things to do!
But really?...Raiding a porn theater and arresting people for public lewdness? Must have been a slow news day in LA. Not saying I agree with what Fred did, but does it deserve an arrest and public humiliation? My goodness...doesn't he have a computer at home? I just don't understand the appeal of a dank, stinky, smelly theater full of old men whacking off as a place I want to see a "movie".
Leave Fred alone. He didn't hurt anyone and didn't do anything wrong.
I don't know exactly what Fred Willard did expect pull down his pants but it doesn't matter. First of all he is lucky to still have a sex drive that strong at his age. Besides, I have always liked his work. One more thought, if you are in an adult theater, are you really going to be so offended by the sight of some old guy's penis? I'm not saying what he did is okay but maybe he has got some kind mental health issues. Who knows?
He merely went to an adult theater not to a day care center, let it go already.
OR, getting the maid knocked up nearly the exact same time the wife is knocked up???? Proves he wasn't using testicle shrinking steroids to stay fit I guess.
But this poor guy says he is innocent, and STILL got fired. I thought PBS was a bastion of liberal acceptance of anything.
And if his wife was with him, in an adult movie theater and no one was being raped, forced, coerced or exploited-so what. At his age, he should be allowed to get a happy once in a while. Good grief.
Tiger's sins were embarrassing to not only him but the millions of people who talked about him as being an example for being successful and a role model. Worse yet, everyone on earth knows who he is and what he did.
Willard was in the way and costing too much, and not liberal enough, so they HAD to set him up.
