Talk about a clean freak! Frank Sinatra's widow dishes the dirt on Ol' Blue Eyes' showering habits.

Frank Sinatra was "obsessed" with being clean -- to the point of taking 12 showers a day -- so says the legendary singer's widow. Barbara Sinatra dropped the info in her new memoir: " Lady Blue Eyes: My Life with Frank " -- saying Frank "always smelled like lavender" and "made [her] feel special."

She also recounts the singer's alcohol use -- writing, "Gin, I think, made him mean. So when I'd come out of my room and see the gin bottle on the bar, I'd turn right around, go back in my room, lock the door, because I didn't want to deal with it."

Barbara was Frank's fourth and final wife. The couple was married for 22 years ... up until Frank's death in 1998 following a heart attack.

It gives a whole new meaning to gin and juice. Is Sinatra just keeping it clean or is his love of showers a bit freaky?

How can you knock Frankie for being clean? Certainly much better than all those hillbillies who have never learned how to have a shower or a bath. Much rather have Frank than them.

I may not take 12 showers in a day (youch!) but what's wrong with keeping clean? Many of my girlfriends used to take 2 or three a day, and I loved it.

Ole' Frank was "always" on stage ... whether performing or walking the streets! 24 hour showmanship has it's responsibilities and I can say I never saw a pic of Frank looking less than sharp.

There is a possibility he took a shower after sex & that could be the reason for so many showers.

I'd prefer anyone who takes the extreme on numerous showers, as opposed to the opposite extreme, offending us with their body odor. Besides, Frank worked his butt off, just like a blue collar construction worker, from sunrise to past sunset.

Well, no one ever accused the Frankster of being a dirty old man, did they. I guess twelve showers a day is a tad excessive; but as Dean Martin once said, "It's Frank's world. we just live in it."

I don't think it's freaky at all. Many people who aren't of Italian ancestry don't understand that showering helps people with a genetic predisposition for a buildup of excess grease in their skin to control it.
