He may be on top of the world right now, but it seems like demons from Frank Ocean’s past are catching up with him. Specifically, his estranged father. Back in June, just weeks before the release of his critically adored debut album “channel ORANGE,” revealed through Twitter that he “just found out my absent father's been cyberstalking me, hi dad."

Fast forward to this week, and “channel ORANGE” has sold nearly 400,000 copies and topped more Best of 2012 lists than any other album, and Frank’s leading the Grammy nominations. Unfortunately, it looks like his dad is back, and with a vengeance.

Twitter

In another tweet posted on Wednesday, Frank said "Father wanna sue me for a million. Like I owe him back child support. Weak individual bought me a swiss knife at 6yrs old then dipped on me." He then added "I got his DNA though, maybe I inherited some of his karma too." Do you think Frank Ocean has a deadbeat dad?

Abandon your son, and sue him when you realise he's made a success of himself. He's a complete tosser. Frank owes him nothing.

Way to go Frank ~ NOT! I hate people who disrespect their parents.

This story doesn't have enough information for me to decide whether Ocean's father is a deadbeat. But, considering that Ocean grew up in America - where Black fathers are routinely excluded by the government from the lives of their children - I'd venture to say that he is not a deadbeat dad. More than likely, Ocean's mother joined forces with 'the system' to ensure that his father did not have a meaningful relationship with him while he was growing up.

You must have a really good reason to sue your own son, I mean come on no parent would want to ruin their child, so he's either a D**k or he is really mad

Oh, wow. Boo-hoo, you're a millionaire who actually made it in this world, and now you're gonna go cry to mommy because daddy's being mean to you? How about, instead of encouraging your father to get mad, why don't you save your self-righteous sympathy for others as well? You're not the only one who had a father drop out of your life, you know.

Frank is alive because of that deadbeat. Women do it to men all the time. I found out I fathered a daughter, only after the father who raised her had died from cancer when she was 13 years old. Not only does this child want anything to do with me, and doesn't carry my last name. The courts awarded her mother $1,200 a month in child support even after admitting if the daughters dad who went to his grave thinking it was his hadn't died, she near would have told me. So regardless of deadbeat dad situation,mr do-wop son would be irrelevant had pops not hit that ass

His father most definitely fits my definition of a dead beat dad. And what in the world would that man think suing his son is going to accomplish? That is one of the more ridiculous things I've heard lately. This lawsuit should go into the Frivolous waste of time barrel. Very ballsy of the sperm donor in my opinion.

Now, i will consent that we are only hearing one side of the story. BUT, being a single parent myself, I know for a fact that the parent raising the children does indeed NEED the child support, and if this so called father did not pay, he is, indeed, a dead beat dad and deserves not one dime from his son, nor does he even rate the title of father.

A deadbeat parent is a term referring to parents of either gender that have chosen not to be financially supportive of their children. Yeah, I think we all know what the word means.

Most of us DO know, because we have to pay higher taxes to support these by products of people too stupid to use proper birth control.

but just so you know we grasp it, I will post my favorite deadbeat dads story.

How about a parent who pays the support but doesn't see his kids for 6 almost 7 years and then decides when the back support is caught up decides he wants to give up his rights??

I just downloaded Frank Ocean's album on iTunes yesterday. Anyway, Frank owes him nothing. His sperm donor of a father just wants to take the easy way out when it comes to getting money, and that's going after his son now that he's this huge success.

That is horrible. Funny though, how these sperm donors or incubators SHOW UP after the kid they ignored starts making a success of their life.

Have a customer who plays ball overseas and his dad didn't have a thing to do with him UNTIL he signed his first contract, now he acts like he was father of the year, AND expects the kid to buy him whatever he wants. RIDICULOUS.

The son comes in here just irked with the guy, then the guy comes in bitching about his no account kid not helping him out. Good grief.

Other side, an incubator suddenly popped back into a 20 year olds life wnating to be "mom" and created 10 kinds of hell for the girl and her dad and the stepmom who has raised her since she was 1.5 years old. Stupid bitch told her to defy her parents, smoke dope if she wanted, sleep with her boyfriend if she felt like it and over be a pain in her parents ass. What a waste.

Im curious to why hes suing, but my answer is yes regardless. His father is obviously jealous of Frank's success and wants to find a way to live off of HIS hard earned cash. I cant imagine any non deadbeat parent who'd have it in them to sue their own child.

His dad is certainly a gigantic looser.Abandoning his son and now trying to sue him for a million?! I hope the judge finds the father guilty of not paying child support and toss him jail instead! Go Frank...Go! It is your every right to criticize your dad!
