Frances Bean Cobain Is Engaged at 19: Too Young?

Frances Bean Cobain, the 19-year-old daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has gone from obscure offspring to certified celeb in just a few short months. In August, BeanCo posed for a series of modeling shots and The New York Times called it "one of the most anticipated comings of age in recent pop cultural history."

But that coming of age is soon to be followed by a very adult decision: She's gettin' hitched. Just a couple of months after her 19th birthday, the burgeoning media starlette has announced she's engaged to Isaiah Silva, guitarist and singer in a band called The Rambles. Reports also claim that Frances Bean Cobain and her fiance have even moved in together.

We're not sure how old he is, but he looks to be in his early 20s. A few sources already have suggested Silva looks a little bit like Kurt. We don't recall Kurt wearing deep v's very often, either, but the long hair and plaid is definitely reminiscent.

The news was officially announced over the couples' respective Facebook pages when they both changed their relationship status to "engaged." How's that for a 21st century announcement? She later wrote, "Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world." In Touch confirmed the news with a close friend who said, "Yes, she’s engaged and they moved in together in a big house near Runyon Canyon ... They are so happy!"

If she's old enough to die for her country in the armed services then she is certainly old enough to love and marry.

There's not a matter of age, but maturity.

She's an adult, she can make her own decisions, for better or worse.

She is a legal adult and is free to get married.

Does she have the maturity to get married at this time is the question. Some people will never have sufficient maturity to marry someone and take on the related responsibilities.
The latter is a general comment and not related to Frances, because I didn't know she existed until I read this question.

I got engaged to my wife when she was 19 and we've been together going on 26 years this Dec.
I would say it depends on how responsible she is and if she's mature enough to know what she's getting into or will she end up divorced down the road like so many people that just throw away their relationships like yesterdays leftovers..

It takes work from both people to make a go of it.. But I've just seen so many give up over the dumbest things.. I don't think people should give up so quick.. Congrats on your marriage and so many years.. Hope you have another 25 !!!!!

No, she is old enough to make her own decisions in life, whether right or wrong. The choice is hers to make, not mine!

Honey, at 19 you have NO idea who or what you really are yet...sometimes not even at 25, so, yeah, it's just my humble, unimportant opinion, that she's WAY too young.

Besides, she's probably more mature than her mother will ever be, so she should be ok. Hopefully the two of them are smart enough to stay away from drugs.

I got married at 30 after a 5 year relationship. First child at 31. Sometimes I wish I would have gotten married early and had kids earlier. Either way you do it, at some point you will think about doing it the opposite.

she's an adult let her do what she wants. if she fell in "love" then so be it, you can't always put a number on that. i believe by 18 you're more than capable of making your own life decisions.
