Don't panic -- Kanye West didn't come in first place. Forbes magazine has ranked hip-hop's top earners, and the biggest moneymaker is ... Dr. Dre.

Dre raked in $110 million in pretax earnings this past year, thanks largely to his premium headphone line, Beats By Dr. Dre, Forbes reports. Diddy comes in second place with $45 million, mostly due to vodka; and Jay-Z ranks third with $38 million, largely due to his business ventures.

Yep ... it seems like hip-hop's cash kings make their money on just about everything BUT hip-hop.

At least Kanye, who comes in fourth on the list with $35 million, earned most of his dough on actual music. From Kanye to Diddy to Nicki Minaj, click through our slideshow and let us know: Who is the most overpaid hip-hop star?

Mind you, she's not a 'hip-hop' star. Nor are most of the people in that list, they're just sorry excuses for R'n'B.
This guy is a REAL hip-hop star

    Yes!
    1- Big Daddy Kane
    2-Rakim
    3-Nas
    4-Ghostface Killah
    5-Public Enemy.
But I suppose none of them endorse sneakers, so they don't deserve any mentions.

I think it's because they're not [...] who make up the 'pathetic rap' genre. And Nicki Minaj..don't get me started. Earl Sweatshirt, Mike G, Jasper, Taco, Hodgy Beats, Azealia Banks, they're the real hip-hop stars of today along with all the others. Rap isn't dead: it's just some of it has become part of the mainstream 'easy-listening' bullcrap.

Erm, that every song he makes makes me wanna throw up? I think he's got talent to some degree, but his songs are not written well, they don't sound good, and they bring nothing new. And he is the best stereotype of white boy ever, yet he thinks he's in with the hip-hop scene by hanging out with tyler the creator?

I am relieved for you. Having lived as long as I have, I am grateful to be able to say that I have worked with and even had as friends paraplegics, one quadraplegic, and men with prosthetics. Given necessary support from the Veteran's administration or other health coverage, they adapted well.

In the US, because of our disgraceful for-profit health-care system, too many people lack necessary access to good care and rehabilitation.

I have been for some type of Medicare for everyone since my teen years (the 1950s), when such thinking might have been grounds for ostracism.

But I have have been certain that I am right, studying our system and that of other countries off and on. I completed an independent study on this subject of deceit as the foundation of our health-care system as part of the requirements for the MSW I received in 2004.

The fact is that if you ask Americans whether they want the benefits of Medicare for everyone without mentioning "liberal", socialized medicine, etc., few will say "no". But calling it socialism is like a threat aimed at your acceptabilty: if you do not back down, you are not part of the group any more. You are a socialist, or Marxist, or communist, or "liberal", or moron, or idiot, etc., etc.

Furthermore, the people who oppose universal health care are of the same demographic of non-Hispanic, non-Jewish whites, who have been angry and resentful ever since they felt bulldozed by the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Corporatist government is possible in the US only because its propagandists study the psychology of the angry white male for the purpose of gaining his support by pandering to his biases.

It really is that simple, that childish, and that tragic.

I agree with you 100%. The fact is though that apart from the tiny minority of rich white people, possibly no more than one per cent of the population the average white American is in real terms barely better off than he was in 1970. It is the rich white people, the Wall Street bankers, the Corporate CEOs whose wealth has soared into the stratosphere over the last 40 years. Whereas in 1970 the ratio between the top earners and the average earner might have been 20:1 it is now 140:1. Yet the performance of the banks and corporations has been characterised by failure. Your trading position (formerly a large surplus in the 1950s) is now an eye wateringly huge deficit. It is amazing that the average worker doesn't revolt against this totally obscene unfairness. But of course even to mention this sort of thing brands one as a socialist or communist as you say.

You're so right. There is a correlation with the rise of hip-hop and the dumbing down of young people, gangs, mind boggling teen pregnancy, filthy language and drugs. These thugs and thugettes glorify all these things. The question is: Why aren't young people protected by the society and adults anymore? What is the ultimate plan? Who and what is behind this?

Excellent observation, David. Could it be that there has already been a coporatist takeover of our country and value is measured not by our stewardship and by our caring for each other but by our value to some corporate bottom line?

Who are we kidding, they're ALL overpaid.

But if we want to go with who we want off the list first, it's that rip-off skank Nicki Minaj. Talentless, fake, and trying WAY too hard. Send her on her Starship back to pluto!!

I promote NOT funding her crappy noise and support any who pirate from her, because even "free" is too much to pay for her work.
