Bob Dylan and Paul Simon are two of the most talented musicians and lyricists to have ever walked the planet. Folk is so closely associated with country, blues, and rock that it's hard to like any of those genres without respecting folk.

I was trained in classical piano, so I can appreciate ALL genres of music, as long as it's good. I enjoy the rock/folk musicians like Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, and I also listen to bluegrass/folk musicians like Allison Kraus. I was sorry to hear that Doc Watson had died, and my condolences go out to his family, friends and fellow musicians. May he rest in peace.

I loved Peter, Paul & Mary, the Kingston Trio, Judy Collins, and all the rest. Sad to lose Doc ... he will be fondly remembered.

Yeah. This particular ballad is my favorite folk song for some reason. Fairport Convention did a nice job with it.

I really loved Watson, but usually pretty picky on run of the mill folk stuff as a rule Doc was an exceptional player.

I don't think I've listened to any of his music before, but yeah, I like folk music. Generally, I'm not all that picky. Unless it's gospel or the metal where it's a lot of screaming, I'm pretty open about all music.

Just heard that one of the well known Scottish folk singers, Alex Beaton had a bad accident and is unable to perform anymore. Sad as he had a great personality too.
