First Look at ‘Sex and the City’ Prequel: Does AnnaSophia Robb Make a Good Young Carrie Bradshaw?

Between the Warner Bros. promotional image and paparazzi photos snapped on set, we’re finally getting our first glimpses of AnnaSophia Robb in costume as the young Carrie Bradshaw for the CW’s “The Carrie Diaries” pilot.

“The Carrie Diaries,” based on the 2010 novel (of the same name) by “Sex” writer Candace Bushnell, is set during Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years and explores her early relationships, her start as a writer, and ultimately her journey to New York City.

18-year-old AnnaSophia Robb demonstrated considerable acting talent in her roles in the movies “Because of Winn-Dixie,” Tim Burton’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Soul Surfer,” in which she portrayed real-life shark-attack survivor Bethany Hamilton.

But will Robb be able to capture the essence of the beloved SATC fashionista?

Sarah Jessica Parker who made the character iconic seems to think so.

"She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too," Robb told Us Weekly. "She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!"

And Amy B. Harris, who was a writer and producer for the original series and is now writer-exec producer of “The Carrie Diaries,” could not be more enthusiastic about Robb.

"When AnnaSophia Robb walked into the room, we knew we had found her," said Harris. "Her grace, intelligence, sense of fun and her empathetic nature make her the perfect girl to bring our young Carrie to life."

We won’t be able to make any final judgments until we see the pilot, but based on the images released so far: Does AnnaSophia Robb make a good young Carrie Bradshaw?
