Both Darren Aronofsky and his star Russell Crowe have been keeping us up to date on the production on Noah, the Biblical epic from the Black Swan
director currently underway in Iceland. But only today are we getting a
look at the man himself, and if you're elected Crowe to don a giant
white beard to play the man who built the ark, well, you might be a
little surprised. Get you first look at Noah below.

So he basically looks like Russell Crowe, a little more rugged than in Gladiator
but not terribly different. That's a bit of a relief, actually-- if
Aronofsky were dressing him up as in a full-fledged, old-school Bible
epic, it would seem out of step with the director's other passionate,
genre-defying films. Disappointingly, the USA Today
article that accompanies this image doesn't have any new information
from Aronofsky or Crowe beyond what they've been tweeting about the
Icelandic landscape, or the picture of the Ark that Aronofsky revealed not long into production. But hey, we've been following all of that too, so none of it's exactly new.
Though production is well under way, Aronofsky won't be forced to rush to finish his follow-up to Black Swan,
and by far the biggest film of his career. The release date has been
set for March 28, 2014, giving him plenty of time to finish effects and
somehow give a fresh spin to one of the Bible's most famous stories. If
anyone's going to do it, it's Aronofsky, but he's still got the kind of
challenge ahead of him that usually only starts as a direct command from
God.
