Because he did terrifying torture to human beings and is the purest form of evil personified and he is very cruel and sadistic and diabolical and it sends chills down your spine the way talks we have such sights to show you and he said that is a waste of good suffering when kristy swanson character cried and the hooks used to pry people apart scared me a lot and as well as the other torture devices they had

I was between Jack and the Tall Man, but went with the Tall Man because Jack Torrance isn't necessarily a villian. He's trying to get things together for his family and himself, but does become a homicidal maniac after suffering from cabin fever, writer's block, etc...
Nicholson's portrayal of Jack Torrance is brilliant!

Of course, he's always been there! I have a copy of the actual photo used. He does suffer from cabin fever though, but it's a mixture of things that leads to his demise.
I've read the book, but didn't like it. I like how Stanley Kubrick rewrote it into the masterpiece his film is.

Jack's quite vulnerable due to his drinking problem, writer's block, cabin fever, etc., and the hotel knows it well since "He's always been there."
The Overlook basically possesses him which throws him over the edge of sanity and into a murderous rampage so it can claim Danny and Wendy as well.

I love the first Halloween, and like the second one. John Carpenter killed Michael Myers at the end of Halloween 2, so that should have been it.
Also, they were sued by William Shatner for using the 1975 Captain Kirk mask, so the rest of they masks they used after Halloween 2 are rubbish in comparison. I have a pull from stuntman Dick Warlock's mask he wore as Michael Myers in Halloween 2, and it's quite a creepy, perfect choice for the mask. They spray painted it a light bluish grey, and cut the hair up uneven and messy.
In my opinon, it's the best thing Shatner has done; being the mask of a horror movie killer. lol
