Fan Returns Chris Brown's $22K Rolex: Gotta Respect That or I Woulda Kept That?

After two years of hard times following his now-infamous Rihanna debacle, something finally went Chris Brown's way, thanks to one incredibly honest fan.

According to TMZ, Brown lost his $22,000 diamond-encrusted oyster-faced gold Rolex watch while performing on stage at the VMAs Sunday night. The watch apparently came loose during his performance, and when he tried to toss it to safety it came off and launched right into the crowd.

We're sure the "Yeah 3x" singer assumed he would never see his precious timepiece again, but he sent his bodyguard out to ask around anyway.

Miracle of miracles, someone stepped forward with the obscenely expensive watch.

Not much is known about the identity of the person who returned it. In fact, TMZ claims Brown never even got to meet the enigmatic altruist.

We can only hope Mr. Brown takes a note of the act and applies the sentiment to his own life. A philanthropic Chris Brown might be able to regain a shred of the respect he left behind in 2009, and he could sure use the positivity.

Whatever the case, it's heartwarming to hear there are still people out there who would rather be truthful than make a couple thousand bucks.

Wait a second. It was worth $22,000, right? Holy hell, are they fatherflippin' crazy?

Ahem. Sorry. Honesty. Right. Good work, mystery fan.

$22 K on a rolex...somebody got a little too much money.....and they whine about people downloading their music.....Musicians spend more in a shopping spree than most people make in a yearly salary. I don't feel sorry for them..........

...and by the way I did vote "I woulda kept that" but I would have returned it for a reward ...but most likely I would have got in trouble . You know they would have searched the crowd until it was found....

I need a good watch. So I would have sold that one and bought a nice Tag Heuer and a killer computer too, something like a Geekbox Ego Maniacal. Yep, that's what I would do. He don't need to know what time if is anyway.

This should not even be a question. OF COURSE one would return something that does not belong to them--who needs that extra burden on their conscience? God forbid their parents taught them otherwise. Doing good is contagious; let's keep that flowing instead of the alternative.

Once again.....not enough choices. My response would be "Why would I want that piece of crap when a $10 timex keeps better time".

Unlike some people, my self worth is not determined by my possesions.

Tempting though it may be, you just don't keep other people's property, period. That's, of course, if and when you know who it belongs to. If you find something that somebody lost, say, just lying on the ground while you're taking a walk, you should report the find to the police and, if nobody comes forward to claim the item, then I have no problem with you keeping it. At least you did the right thing. And the right thing is what it is all about.

It was the right thing to do. I do not understand though, how the bodyguard could have let the honest fan get away without personally escorting that person back stage to be personally thanked by this performer. That fan deserves a big thank you and a kind reward, and maybe concert tickets with backstage passes for the rest of his life. Chris Brown, please send out an announcement and try to find that honest fan. The parents of that fan did a wonderful job.

take it how ya want it but i tell it like i see it. chris is a overgrown spoiled brat like many hollywood "stars" and probably has never had half of social or financial disadvantages many people in this country have faced and still face each day. and if im an idiot to you because i dont believe an overpaid crappy entertainer deserves to get back junk he never should have bought in the first place but rather donated to help the less fortunate, then up yours!

This whole conversation was not so much about Chris Brown, who may well be what you say,, many are, and I am saddened by the fact that he or his security person, did not have the brains to do something nice for the person who did the right thing for sure. That person has parents who did teach him the right things in life to do, at least about this we know.. Unfortunately I guess Chris Brown's parents did not. And with your thought process, and childish comments, something certainly went wrong with your upbringing.
So, just because Chris Brown may be what he appears to be, thankfully for this world, the good samaritan is exactly what he appears to be. Good for him, and gratefully he is not like you.

i highly doubt chris brown is a good samaritan, of course i dont know him personally so i cant be sure. now dont get me wrong, regular people do deserve to have things returned to them that they have lost but no, i cant show that same sympathy towards to rich snotnosed punks like chris. a man who can beat up a poor girl and ruin her fragile little heart by becomin her boyfriend and puttin her life through hell before splittin from her certainly gets no respect from me, thats for sure. yeah, i support that old robin hood story of "steal from the rich and give to the poor" and i think thats good for me and ungratefully more people are not like i am. if you want to help rich people who wouldnt in a million years think of helpin you (especially if youre one of the poor people out there) if you had lost somethin, then fine by me but id rather throw money in the ocean than give it to one of those money-hungry birdbrains who goes through money like its water.

People make the choices they make in life, and good or bad then they have to live with them. I do not follow anything about Chris Brown, nor do I condone any of his actions. My issue with this post was, simply, that the person who returned the watch did do the right thing for the right reason.
You seem to have a lot of issues regarding money and people who are lucky to perhaps be a little better off than others. Perhaps they got that way from hard work, not thinking that everyone else 'Owes" them something for any reason, or by having a good outlook on life, and making good use of whatever legal opportunity is made available to them, school, a job offer, and doing something for themselves to better their own life. If your life is not where you would like it to be, then please, help yourself, don't wait for robin hood, who by the way(according to the FICTIONAL story, only thought it was right to help the poor who had nothing to begin with, and had what little they did have, taken away from them by corrupt and dishonest people to better their own lifestyle, basically thru theft. So, Robin wanted only to take back and return to the the "poor" what had wrongfully been taken from them in the first place. He did not take from the honest, hardworking people who managed to have more than others, and who, did help those less fortunate from their good fortune. It is true that the scales of life are unbalanced , and often life is not fair...please try and be happy.

who knows how they got where they are but i do know i dont like some of them that much. i think its human nature to envy those who have more, be it money, friends, possessions, anything really. i wouldnt mind helpin some who is in need but never someone who is greedy. maybe thats just me.

For some it consumes them to envy others and what they have, or do, but in the long run it does nothing to help them at all, all it does is hurt them. Envy, like greed, is harmful to all. Case in point, greed, equals the government. They appear to be the greediest of all, especially the ones in Congress and other places who manage to take care of themselves completely while hurting the rest of us. They seem to feel none of the rules we all have to live by, taxes, insurance, health care apply to them at all, but they above all others deserve raises whenever they feel like it, give themselves "golden parachutes", and manage to not have to live under any of the same conditions they impose on others , thru their decisions. Not one of them gives a damn about the rest of us, regardless of their party affiliations. If Robin Hood were real, this is who he would go after. So, like it or not we are all stuck helping the greedy government, who, wants and does take from us
to, in some part take care of all the do nothings, and greedy bottom feeders of this country, with more of them pouring in everyday, with no end in sight, giving them everything that the rest of us have spent our entire working lives
accumulating, and they don't have to do a thing in return, but have more babies, without fathers, and hold out their hands.

that is all true and very shameful. but im sure youve seen the way celebrities break the law left and right and more often than not, get off for things a lot faster and easier than a normal, non-famous, non-rich person ever could. they sicken me almost as much as the government does. as long as everybody doesnt play by the same rules, i dont have any reason to treat all equally so if a richie rich loses somethin i couldnt buy in a lifetime, i would never return it to them as if the shoe were on the other foot, i know i couldnt count on one of them to return anything to me that i lost. not just me either, any workin-class citizen of this land would be pretty much spat on by celebrities and politicians and the like.

As I said, it is not just the celebrities, and of course it is wrong. But, it is a fact that in most places in the world, money does equal power. I am not saying it is right in any shape or form, just another piece of life inequities ..
But, in spite of this I choose to live my life doing what I feel to be the right thing to do in situations I have control over, if at all possible, and not regret it at all.....as the saying goes...two wrongs do not make a right...
I hope at some point in your life, you will be less bitter about the things you can not do a thing about, and be completely happy with your life as it is. Anything else is just a waste of time and effort, in my way of thinking.
  • shindogg Muver 2011/10/07 21:43:29
    shindogg
no but theyre the ones people see all the time. athletes, singers, actors, musicians, writers. even rich people that are not celebs or politicians have some respect for those that have less. but me personally, the things i have no control over are part of why i cant be truly happy with life. there is so little that i can control even in my own life. and what i do have control over doesnt seem like that big of a deal to really focus on. life can be a waste of time and effort in itself.
  • Muver shindogg 2011/10/08 00:11:08
    Muver
Life is never a waste of time or effort, being all consumed about the stuff you can't control, or the things that you perceive to important to you is. Focus on what you can change, find a way to do it, and then do it. Even little things make a big difference in how you feel about yourself and the world around you. Do something simple, love an animal, go to a flower shop and smell the flowers, find happiness and enjoyment in a blue sky, or the clouds...anything. The fact that you do have something that you do have control over and that you feel ok about is a big deal. Start there and go forward. Life is what YOU make it, not what others do. Enjoy it, it really is extremely short.
