The movies have their summer fun in the sun, but for gamers, their favorite time of year is the fall, because the fourth quarter is when some of the year’s biggest releases come out! No matter which video game system you own, there’s definitely something for everyone coming out over the next few months.
Already out now is hugely popular and eagerly awaited, “Gears of War 3” for Xbox 360 and “Resistance 3” for PS3. Both games feature an army of humans doing all they can to stave off total annihilation from invading alien races.
Another “alternate history” video game is the first–person shooter Rage, coming out on PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 4th. The game tells the story of Earth in the not-too-distant future after we’ve been impacted by asteroids.
Upcoming for sports fans are “FIFA Soccer 12” on September 27th and “NBA 2K12” on October 4th. Both games are coming out for all systems and like many sports games will do their best to offer up the most realistic experiences for their respective sports.
Fantasy lovers get their fill too when “Dark Souls (October 4th),” “The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (November 1st),” and “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (November 11th)” should provide hours and hours of role-playing fun for PS3 and Xbox 360 owners. Even Wii is getting in on the fantasy fun with the long-anticipated release of the “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword,” which comes out on November 20th.
Comic fanboys have their moment of Zen as well with “Spiderman: Edge of Time,” on October 4th, and the sure to be record selling, “Batman: Arkham City,” on October 18th. Both games come out for all three platforms. Gamers can still satiate their needs for speed with “Forza Motorsport 4,” exclusively on Xbox 360 on October 11th and “Need for Speed The Run,” drops on all systems on November 15th. The Nintendo DS has some fun stuff coming out too with “Super Mario 3–D Land,” on November 13th and “Mario Kart 7” on December 4th.
Last and certainly not least, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” aims to dominate the holiday season and a whole lot of bandwidth for online gaming comes out November 8th.
Gamers everywhere! What’s the big game you’re waiting for this season?
