There are two words in television that can evoke pained groans at their mere utterance: "reality" and "spinoff." So it should come as no surprise that the "reality spinoff" genre is ripe with failure. As if "Jersey Shore" wasn't bad enough already, MTV had to go and produce "The Pauly D Project" based on the thrilling personal life of one of the show's stars. Needless to say, it flopped.

Yahoo! pointed out four more reality spinoff fails (is that redundant?), each more boring than the last. And when we say boring, we don't mean "causing or marked by boredom." We mean "hollowing out, cutting through, or removing a core of material." There were two "Project Runway" spinoffs ("Models of the Runway" and "Mad Fashion"); "RuPaul's Drag U," a "Drag Race" spinoff; and "It's a Brad, Brad World," a spinoff of "The Rachel Zoe Project," whatever that is. They all died on impact. Obviously.

And if that's not enough, Yahoo! also reports upcoming spinoffs for "Toddlers and Tiaras" and "Dance Mom," two shows already better known for the controversial parenting depicted therein than for their "entertainment value." We can't wait.

I think all of them are probably really stupid. Reality TV stinks. As do a lot of the shows that are on now. And people wonder why I don't watch TV...

I hate Jersey Shore its an insult to people from New Jersey(especially me bc i live at the jersery shore O_O so people expect me to act and talk like they do!! >:( )

Reality shows of any kind are absolutely the downfall of civilization!! These shows do nothing but glamorize people that have no actual talent other than standing around trying to look attractive, behave like a slut, drink like an alcoholic, or make themselves feel important!! There needs to be a Constitutional Amendment banning every single one of these shows!!!

Whether they got paid a lot of cash or not is none of my business (I'm sure they all get paid a ton, or they wouldn't be doing it). But I can tell you one thing, they never got ANY of my money or my time, because I don't watch a single one of these things they call "entertainment" today!!

I actually have never watched any of these or their original shows. I have absolutely no interest in them. About the only "reality" shows I ever watch (and hardly ever at that) would be things like "American Idol", "Dancing With The Stars", "Ellen" (do talk shows count? lol), "Super Nanny", or the shows about mental illness such as the one about OCD (see how often I watch? I can't even think of the name). Overall, I think "reality" shows like the ones in this poll are terrible and I can't understand why people watch them.

I watched the premier episode of Pauly D's show. Mostly because there was nothing else on and I was bored and didn't feel like changing the channel. It was background noise, anyway, while I played on my phone.

I love RuPaul, though, and both Drag U and Drag Race.

Plus all the "original" shows, like Jersey Shore, all the housewives shows, Survivor, Bachlor, Bachlorette and all the other phoney, cheap assed shows dreamed up by producers to make them more money. They have open scripts, no dialog but a story line, false drama and conflict and appeal to the dumb assed people who want to feel superior to "someone".

As far as "Spin-offs" go, these are all very lame but it is in my opinion that the worst of the worst is without a doubt..."Jersey Shore"...Snookie should be stuffed and mounted and used as target practice...The "situation" should be rendered down and used to re-pave the streets of the Jersey Shore...Better yet, slice off the entire state and send it off to sink into the Atlantic along with the bastards that thought it was a good idea to subject America to the insipid manners and speech patterens of New Jersey...
