Exactly how much of a great music icon is Steve Winwood?

Starting at all of 14 in the Spencer Davis Group until now has he not done it all? Born in 1948 in Birmingham England his father was a foundry man by day and played Saxophone & Clarinet by night. Steve started as backup to greats like Do Diddley, BB King and John Lee Hooker to name the short list. The center points of bands Traffic, Blind Faith. Beyond collaborations with Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix and Tito Puente the list is to great to mention! To me he's more than an Icon he's been decades of great music! What do you say?

If you are talking about " In The Air Tonight" That would be Phil Collins (soloist, drummer for Genesis). Steve Winwood was in the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and Blind Faith in the 60's and 70's then went solo in the late 70's and had several million sellers in the 80's. Google him and listen to some really great music.

Well Vinny I don't know what to say? Lol....I have thought a few times that New Zealand may not actually be on Planet Earth? But hey there may just be many benefits to that? Not knowing who Steve Winwood would not be on that list!

There are great vids here from all his eras. My advice is to don some headphones (My GOD Man you do have heaphones?) and dig in and see if you enjoy him?

He is HUGE. The man is up there with Clapton, Hendrix, The Beatles, Stones and many other classic Icons.

They were just the ones i could think of quickly. I know I left a lot of the list like The Isleys, Little Richard and Smokey Robinson.
