Great stuff Calliope (you got me smiling) I love the upbeat in those songs,it's lifting.
I would have liked him to do more serious acting I think he would have been very good.
With his looks how could he not.!
    Thank you :)

It was upbeat! Lots was just fun!

My father looked like him, so of course, Dad wore the same hair etc. Thank GOD he drew the line at sequins...
Loved this one too. This was a little more serious. He did have

LOVE ME TENDER was kind of serious. First movie he did. It was well done, too.

I respected Elvis Presley who worked his way up to stardom, not like some of today's come and go actors and singers. His slow music is my favorite. I was never infatuated with Elvis Presley.

I had the pleasure of seeing Elvis twice in person. The first was when he was in his prime. He was in great shape and his performance was over the top as you would expect. Before he even came out you knew from the way the band played that you were about to see a class act and he did not disappoint. The second time was after he was heavy and out of shape. But it did not affect his performance. It was every bit as good at the first but I could not help but think what a shame that he had lost his health in such a short period of time.

This is, and always will be, a song I very much attribute to the way he was.

Your very welcome and you are right it was indeed a very special memory. I also had a chance to visit Graceland and that was a very interesting venture. At the time I visited they had his private Jet positioned across the street directly in front of Graceland and of course offered tours. Of course as you can imagine this was not a small private plane. It was a Boeing 737. I would have loved to see the inside but didn't have the time to see it and the mansion so opted to only tour the mansion. What they told us about that plane however was incredible.

He had a flight crew on call 24/7 and because he could not simply run down to a restaurant like the rest of us he would simple fly to some remote part of the country, and at times other parts of the world, where he would not be hounded but the press to have dinner. It could have been any time of day or night. With the exception of when he was performing, on tour or otherwise, he spent most of his time at Graceland. Beautiful home but surprisingly small considering how wealthy he was. He spent most of his time in the basement in a very lavish den.

Because he was not free to simply run out any time he wanted to he had another building on the grounds that they showed as part of the tour. It was a Movie Theater. So he never had to leave the grounds to watch a movie or a re-run of one of his performances. The most surprising thing of all was to find out how much of his life was not his own. He could not simply go take a walk or go and do like everyone else because he was simply too famous and would never be left alone. That fame may have indeed led to his demise.

I am normally not in awe of most men. I like women too much. But this man captured my interest from a very early age. He was a consummate performer and truly one of the very best. They would always start his performance while on tour with the band playing the theme from 2001 A Space Odyssey. It was so appropriate and by the time that was over the place was jumping. Incredible experience.

This was his lead in before he ever came on stage!

Thank you so much for sharing that,I can't even begin to concieve how wonderful that experience must have been. To me he was the be all and end all of entertainment and nobody has replaced him yet and I doubt they ever will. He posessed such a fantastic charisma and that along with the raw talent and looks that he was blessed with made him really something to see...which unfortunately I missed out on. No other performer since has even come close to the limits of adoration that he did...and well deserved.
In his own words........''thank you..thank you very much''
