He could put over a song and on stage had great charm.

    Elvis - Burning Love
Arthur Alexander (an idol of John Lennon) recorded it first but Elvis nails.

The blocking Lerro is wrong. What greatly damaged Elvis' career was when he went in the Army in 1958 it lost momentum then he made all those movies until 1967, Remember Elvis didn't formerly make a comeback (the TV Special) as performer until 1968.

    Elvis comeback

No comment on the rest, even if true, that disgraces this poll as it is really supposed to be about Elvis as an entertainer.

I want to like Elvis but all these nuts that worship him or think he is still alive ruin it for me. I know it's not Elvis' fault but thats the way it is.

YAY! I can't even believe there's an option for nay, smh. Let me add that I grew up listening to Elvis. From his Rock all the way to his Christmas songs. I still remember them announcing his death on t.v. & how devestated my Mom was. She was a teen during his rise to fame. In her memory, I hand down his music to my children. Our kids need to know there once were truly talented singers! yay option nay smh

Oh YEA! I was able to see him in person two times. The first when he was in him prime. The second after he started to become overweight. In both cases however he put on a fabulous show. He has to be the only performer I have ever saw that it was clear before he even came out that you were about to see a top notice performance!

YAY, I had the pleasure of meeting Elvis twice, First time after his opening show party in his penthouse at the International Hotel on July 31. 1969. Between 1972 and 1976. I saw many of his shows there.. He was alway's a gentleman, and very down to earth person. He loved music and people, treating everyone as if they were good friends or close family.

Yep, it is up there on the top of my list of people I've had the opportunity to meet. Also Nat King Cole, and Sammy Davis Jr. are also right there with Elvis.. And again both very kind persons, and gentlman in the highist order.

I never liked him...he was created by Col Tom parker his talent was limited to sex appeal and that's it...

the TRUE Father of Rock and Roll is the guy that took it to the mainstream and made it acceptable...a man pretty much forgotten by the Musical bigots

It's really funny . . . I knew of a real, real SLUT; because of this guy who was her nephew, was actually a friend and classmate of mine; and she (his aunt) used to date Presley when Presley was just out of High School. I Mean S L U T too. She drove a 1956 Chevy Bellaire. There is no doubt about it; she truly dated Presley. I am totally, totally convinced of that. Yes, he used to drive a Delivery Truck. For some reason, he liked older trashy-ass women. (Do you know who he reminded me of? . . . The Kennedys) I saw pics taken of him with another Slut at Melody Lane; just outside of Needville, going to Wharton. The boy had a reputation of dating SLUTS when he was younger. Do you want to know what killed Presley, though? . . . The Beatles . . . Actually, The British Invasion.
