Elton John Says Madonna's Career Is 'Over,' Compares Her to a 'Stripper': Right On or Dead Wrong?

Don't expect to hear an Elton John-Madonna mash-up anytime soon. In the latest spat in their long-running feud, Elton John told an interviewer that the queen of pop's career is "over"... and that the iconic pop star kind of looks like a "stripper."

"She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over...and she looks like a f***ing fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga," he said in an interview that aired on Australia’s Channel 7 program Sunday Night.

John's pal Lady Gaga happens to be the godmother of his son Zachary with partner David Furnish. Now, it's true that Madonna hasn't exactly been supportive of Gaga -- even implying that she copied one of her tunes -- but we still think Elton John is being pretty harsh. And knowing Madonna, she'll relish the chance to fire back where it hurts. Do you think Elton John is right about Madge?

Elton John is so right. Madonna is having to use her body to get her name in the media. She is supposed to be a singer not a stripper! It is such a shame she has to stoop that low to get a audience to hear her.

He and just about everyone else on this poll are the ones who are "dead wrong". Is Madonna still making money? She still performs and makes a lot of money, so OBVIOUSLY her career is not "over". She might be horrible and look like an elderly stripper, but if she is making money her career is not over. Its shocking I always have to explain these simple points to people....

You're absolutely right. I dont even like her, but I can concede that her career is definetly NOT over; she still makes a fortune and still has a huge fan base (she's never done anything for me).

She came to Vienna for a concert. She was two hours late, didn't apologize, just began singing, then started to complain about how much she hated the city and felt bad because the people were so stupid, and then she had her stupid machine gun show. She used to be great, now she's just clinging to fame with her Gollum arms.

Dead Wrong

No, Madonna will be around for a long time. She is just getting used to aging in show biz. Once she comes to terms with it she will mellow out a little and get back on her own version of unique and quirky. And how can Elton John say those things? He's about as quirky as they get. He's the last person to criticize her since he's been crazy on stage too. I don't love this new stage the material girl is going through, but she always reinvents herself. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't.

Everything Elton said is completely true.She's been acting like a complete stripper, and the way she treated Gaga was pretty harsh. Before any of this happened, Gaga admitted Madonna was her idol. ouch.

She's an awesome singer - especially her old stuff, but she looks nasty now.

If she's gonna go onstage, she should do it with a classier look. The nasty stipper look is just that...nasty.

And by the way...Elton is also an expired fairground drag queen. It's time for him to retire as well.

Madonna is finished now,She should just move over and let the younger ones have their tune. She should actually start helping young people make in this industry like some one helped her when she was young. She is over the hill now as far as being in the spot light. She needs to move over now. When older woman try to look young ,they look hard and worn out. She needs to give it a rest and retire from the music industry. She needs to help other now,don't be so selfish Madonna.

The only reason why she picked a fight with gaga was that she was jelous that she had found a way to succesfully reinvent her song, and gaga was actually a huge fan, so madonna was dead wrong.

.....So what would you call what John is doing? He's an old guy with a baby, and he dresses up funny and tours and sings.......That's what we usually call "show business."

How is he not "using his body"? Not to mention he had a baby and played Rush Limbug's wedding to get his name in the media.

If Madonna's appearance were her only asset, why are all of her albums still in production?

Just saying... but doesn't he see how Lady Gaga presents herself? It is much worse than Madonna. Lady Gaga begs for attention by the way she dresses and acts. Elton John needs to re-evaluate the way he looks at people. Feel bad for his kid that has Lady Gaga as a godmother.

Madonna is washed up and knows it. So she does anything she can to try and get attention including attacking Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga is current and very successful.

Elton John has no need of such tactics. He is still well known. Going after Madonna is about Madonna, not him. Madonna going after Lady Gaga is about Madonna, not Lady Gaga.

Big difference.
