Whether you think it a good thing or a bad thing is a different question entirely.
I personally couldn't name one cricket or rugby player. I can name you some soccer players though and I watch soccer just as much as I watch rugby and cricket.
As for the men you named, I know who Jordan is, but that's just because we get American TV over here. I've heard Bryant's name, but I didn't know he played basketball, and the other man, I've never heard of.
I mean no offence by this. It's just something I've noticed many times over the years.
I've noticed that Americans tend to ignore the sports that the rest of the world plays e.g. football, the most popular sport ever. So it's no surprise that you don't know about cricket, which is played by many more people than any American sport. What you don't realise is that the rest of the world tends to ignore your sports!
I didn't know we sold Jordan sneakers over here, and, to be honest, I don't even know what sneakers are without Googling it.
As for basketball players, my respect for them is very limited; they're men of slightly about average sporting ability who just happen to be freakishly tall! I probably have more sporting ability than many pro basketball players.

to quote " In United States and Canada, it is considered poor sportsmanship to "run up the score" in most circumstances [...] The term and concept are not common elsewhere in the world."
And notice how there is only an English version of the article, lol
