Does Tim Tebow Deserve to Start in 2012?

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow put together a magical run with his team in the 2011 season and playoffs. The NFL's feel-good story was Tebow, a quarterback that many analysts said couldn't be successful on the pro level, winning and winning and winning. The Broncos may have lost three straight games heading into the playoffs, but at 8-8, they picked up enough wins with Tebow as their QB to win the AFC West and get homefield advantage for at least one game.

In a huge upset, the Broncos defeated the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card round, eliminating the Super Bowl favorites from the playoffs. The next week wasn't so great for fans of the Broncos and TebowMania, as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were dominant. There were no fourth quarter comebacks for Tebow and questions popped up again on whether he has the passing ability to consistently hang with the best teams -- and withstand the toughest defenses the league has to offer.

Have no fear, Broncos fans. Tebow gets another shot in 2012, assuming he continues to improve and defy his critics' low expectations."Well, I think Tim's earned the right to be the starting quarterback going into training camp next year," Broncos boss John Elway declared at the beginning of a 40-minute news conference, according to ESPN.com."I think he made some good strides this year," Elway said. "He obviously played very well against Pittsburgh and played very well in a lot of football games." Do you think Tim Tebow deserves to start this year?

This is his first year as starter. He needs more time to improve his game and the co ordinations with receivers. He's one of the best role models in football for young people unlike some of the thugs, felons and ego inflated players.

He has earned the right for the job to be his to lose. In other words, there should be competition for the job in training camp, but he should be the assumed starter unless somebody has an outstanding training camp and preseason.

Having said that, I will also say he has now had his year to figure out his weaknesses and strengths. No more excuses. He must come out and be consistently good at the sart of the season, or he deserves to be benched like Kyle Orton was and the Broncos should move in another direction. My heart tells me that that is exactly what is going to happen. He just doesn't have what it takes to be great QB in the NFL as far as I can see. As a die hard Bronco fan, I hope I am wrong only because it would be nice to have that piece of the puzzle filled so they can fill in the other pieces and not have to focus on that one.

let his skills mature over a couple years by learning. some get awarded upfront like brady and manning while others adapt a little longer.

if you look at broncos before tebow become a quarterback, you would have said this is another season of disappointment, but he turned all the expectations upside down, he was playing with passion and his passion even made his fellow players give everything they got, i confess he needs a lot more practice and there are better quarterbacks in NFL, but he is the one who is improving and he is the one to lead broncos, he was a true leader in the field.

Tim has proved himself to be a good leader if nothing else and has apparently earned the trust of his team. He's one of those guys who make everyone around him play better. Tebow is only hitting the tip of the Iceburg as a quarterback as well and Given a whole offseason to get ready to start next year I will be a wonder to watch.

Without Tebow, the Broncos wouldn't have made the playoffs. If he'd started the whole season, they probably would have been more like 11-5 rather than 8-8.

Tebow deserves a shot, but to just give it to him is crazy. His 'winning' record was because of their defense, not his offense (the Steelers game being the lone exception). Tebow is like a new pitcher in baseball, once teams figure him out they will shut him down...pretty much like they have all season, but does deserve to compete for the starting job, but he isn't good enough to be a starting quarterback with his current skill sets.

Sure he will improve with more chances. AND his defensive team sucked all year, Even guys like Elway,Staubach,Bradshaw Montana, Morton and many more had bad years when they started.

His defense didn't suck. Are you crazy? They got carved up by the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, but who didn't? The Broncos have avereged 19 points a game in the 16 games that Tim Tebow has started in his career. How could they possible have one more than 50% of those without the defense keeping points off the board?

Even Elway had his down moments when he was a rookie. He will get better, and better as time goes by. It takes more then a quarterback to win or lose a game.

I think he played fairly well but he really needs to work on his passing mechanics. He needs to become more of a pocket passer instead of a scrambler. Not saying that he can't scramble but one day he is gonna get popped and not even see the guy comin and he could be done for the rest of his career.

Everyday Tebow will have to prove himself. In the NFL it's all about winning and performing, and there is always somebody to take your place. All Tebow has to do is help his team win games! Now go Tebow!!

He deserves the starting position going into training camp (which was already announced) until he is taken out for someone better. I don't think Tebow will have the wins like he did this year. Teams will have plenty of tape to work with going into next season. He will still have his wins next year but I would be surprised if they will 8 games especially with the schedule they will get after winning the division.

He may deserve to start but I doubt if he will last long. He seems to trying to play the NFL by college play. The fact that this is generally not done means that there is a reason. Against NE, it seemed like he was more of a tackling dummy than a quarterback.

I suspect that if he is not pulled early, he will end up injured.
